Coach O

A good manager of any business is good because he or she does one of two things. They either know how to do the things they are responsible for doing at a high level, or they find others who do those things at a high level and delegate the work to them.
Coach O is that second guy. He finds people that excel and lets them do their thing. He finds good players and good asst coaches. The only X and O area he involves himself in is helping the Dline because that is a skill he does have.
So my question here is, hypothetically, if Coach O over say the next 5 years, averages 10 wins a year (including bowl game), where would you rank him as an SEC coach (1 to 14)? Given, he will likely have to replace both OC and DC at least once in that span, and do so successfully. If he does that well, does he get your respect?

Is this what led him to his stellar record at Ole Miss?

Yeah, his record is a testament to his incredible skills as a manager

Actually he was D.C. At Ole Miss and tries to do everything himself.

2, if Saban is gone by then, 1. Yaw yaw

10 game a year average will land you in the top 4, easily. Where you land within the top 4 all depends on the landscape of the competition at the time. With the way things are right now that would probably land at #2 behind Saban since no one else is really averaging that.

I am not comparing Coach O to Nick Saban, but if you compare Nick's coaching skills from say his tenure at Michigan St (not terribly successful) to now, it looks like he learned from experience doesn't it?
Coach O did poorly and made many mistakes at Ole Miss. He admits that himself. But since then, as an interim coach he was 6-2 at USCw, 5-2 at LSU, and 1-0 as full-time coach at LSU. He could very easily be undefeated at LSU both losses were very close.

I don't understand some LSU fans staring a pro O thread on here thinking they're gonna have a good discussion.

You're going to be so disappointed in 3-4 years (if it takes that long).

Instead of playing what ifs...why not make this thread maybe say........next year?

Why do idiotic LSU fans say this? Sure he beat Arkansas last year, but look at his history. This dude is a bum who has been extremely fortunate to be where he is.

I know there are several posters who pretty much exclusively like to troll, but there are also quite a few who like to actually discuss things.

Teams he took over and really had no part in planning. Also his wins were against shitty teams except 2

You guys would be excited averaging a 10-3 season?
Because, I think that you wouldn't.

I am not worried about this year. The offense will be improved, although I am iffy on the oline. Tackle is a question mark in my mind. I think we get 10 wins next year and going forward as long as Aranda/Canada are at LSU. When they leave will be the true test for Coach O. Will he find good replacements?

They could've played until the sun came up and LSU wouldn't have scored on Alabama.

Is this another thread of lsu fans convincing us O is good because he won't actually do any coaching?
