Did Arkansas ever have much of a chance at signing Malik Monk?

Assuming he grew up a Hawg fan. Going to Kentucky for one year can't help his draft status anymore than had he gone to Arkansas. Kid is a stud wherever he went.

I'm not sure what you are asking but yes we certainly had a chance

There was a .01 chance from what I heard.

He has been talking Kentucky for a long time. Not sure if Arky was in the running much.
And the reason players don't go anywhere when they can be a superstar is usually coaching, facilities, and fan base.

I just think as badass as he is his status draft status wouldn't have changed much had he gone to Arkie..
Could have made a big difference at Arkie.

Monk literally said it was a "business decision" to go to Kentucky. They were willing to pay him more than we were.

I guess you would call it an inconvenient truth.

There is a reason we are rich, we don't overpay for 1 trick pony one and dones
What has that 1 title Cal has brought you guys cost by now? 2 mill? 3? Sure the revenues offset the cheating costs somewhat, but what you make in basketcheats you lose in football

He had been learning to UK since middle school. His brother pushed at the end. It was close.

I don't think he really would have helped this team much anyway, or the program by hanging around one year.

Hmmm, how many players has UK/Cal put in the NBA vs UofA/Anderson? Monk made the smart, correct, business decision...two semesters on the best NBA D-league team posing as a college team and then off for the draft. No way he was going to Arkansas.

My source said it was a 95% done deal.

I completely disagree. He could have led us to a sweet sixteen as a home state legend and been a lottery pick. Instead he went to UK and is a lottery.
