There's a bowl game in Montgomery? frickin gross

This may be weird but I like watching the small schools in bowl games because it means more to them. The worst for me is the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit. Boston College vs. Maryland.

Cotton bowl - it has to suck to be the cotton bowl and get western Michigan and Wisconsin . I seen on ESPN that the ticket price for that game fell like a rock to $29 .
Ha. Nice. No worse Organization to deal with then jerry Jones Cowboys Org, so I'm sure he was super pissed about this.
Cotton Bowl lost it's true tradition when moved out of the actual Cotton Bowl.

Mont gum re just plain sucks.

Shreveport. It's ridiculous to try and get to that place. At least Montgomery is fairly accessible.

Old Stadium has lots of history. Glad to see the city spend some money on it. Family had some family get togethers there during CHristmas and remember my Dad taking me to a few Blue Gray Games. Went to one back about in 74-75 and it was at night, I froze my arse off. good times!

Mobile has good seafood & a nice downtown.
I plum forgot about the Mobile "Dollar General" bowl. That's actually a pretty good lower tier bowl destination, especially if the weather breaks right; stuff to do and good food.

Lol, I played in a HS playoff game in that stadium. It was packed. Will that Bowl game sell out?

Back in the 60s, the Crampton Bowl served as the rallying point for the "Klancade," a parade of klansmen in cars decorated with all their whatnot that was supposed to travel to Selma to protest the Selma-to-Montgomery Civil Rights March.
Ironic that they would call this the Camelia Bowl, since the kluxers are also known as the Knights of the White Camelia.

I can't give you one answer, because there's so many of them. So I guess I'll just list them in no particular order. By the way, App State and Toledo isn't a bad matchup IMO, but Montgomery is an awful place for a bowl game.
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Idaho vs. Colorado State -- Boise might not be a bad town, but you're spending a late December night in Idaho. Not in Miami, San Diego, or even Houston. Idaho. Plus the matchup is a snoozer, with Idaho (about to turn FCS in two years I think) and Bobo's Boyz
Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs. Navy -- The whole Dallas/Fort Worth area is just boring. And I feel so bad for Navy. They could have been playing just down the road for the Cotton Bowl, and now they are stuck with playing LA Tech in an early bowl game.
Dollar General Bowl: Ohio vs. Troy -- Who the frick is going to proudly hang up a trophy in their office from the Dollar General Bowl? The matchup isn't horrible but if I was a player I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry when I found out I was playing in the fricking Dollar General Bowl.
Quick Lane Bowl: Maryland vs. Boston College -- As another poster stated earlier, watching two small schools play at least involves some level of excitement and gratefulness to be there. But two power five teams that simply suck? Sign me up for that every time! Plus I hear Detroit's pretty nice in late December. Hopefully both fans attending the game stay safe.
New Era Pinstripe Bowl: #23 Pittsburgh vs. Northwestern -- Poor Pitt. You have the best two wins in all of FBS. Beating Penn State and Clemson, just so you get the great privilege of playing a 6-6 Northwestern team.
Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl: Air Force vs. South Alabama -- I'm usually pro-lots of bowl games, but when your game is being broadcasted only on the Arizona Sports Network, you've got too many bowl games.

Once they build the new stadium down by the Civics Center, the Bham Bowl will be much better. I do like Bham a lot, but that area around Legion Field might not ever come back. They do a good job of getting people in and out of there. We go every year as a staycation.

They should bring back the Blue Grey
