In an appearance on SportsCenter Sunday morning, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum was asked to comment on Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin’s job prospects, as he’s reportedly being considered for positions at LSU and elsewhere. Finebaum had an interesting response, especially as it regards Kiffin’s relationship with his boss, Nick Saban.

“I think the marriage between Lane and Nick is over,” he said.

Finebaum talked about the often-contentious relationship between the two coaches, alluding to instances where Saban has been seen berating Kiffin on the sidelines during games:

“I think Lane Kiffin would like to be somewhere he can not be yelled at, be humiliated and be treated like a child, which is [a situation] some of his friends believe he is in right now under Nick Saban,” Finebaum said.

Finebaum also took the opportunity to address potential landing spots in the (apparently likely) event Kiffin leaves the Crimson Tide.

“He is trying to get a head coaching job — Houston is a very strong possibility. If he doesn’t get that, then I do believe he will go to Baton Rouge. He brings a lot of juice to that program, he answers the biggest question in the offense."

The media is so pathetic. He will leave but not because of this absolute nonsense.

Nick Saban saved Lane Kiffin's image by doing just that. Kiffin was publicly paddled and will end up at Oregon where the USC rehab will continue.

An important comment there at the end of the link: "playing Fla. in the SECCG in what could be Kiffin's last game". Meaning he could come to LSU...or where ever ...after Sat's game. Which would be a huge boost to recruiting.

i agree the marriage is over. who could stand to be berated like that in public all of the time?!? he has learned what he needed to from saban, and it would be wise for him to move on if he wants to further his career.

It will never happen because the Tennessee AD is full of pussies but holy shite what if it did? Didn't Petrino leave Louisville on very bad terms originally?

When Kiffin takes the Houston head coaching job, he will stay with Bama until after the playoffs. There is a pretty long dead period in recruiting after next weekend that lasts until after the national championship game.
