Kirby, Mcelwain, Muschamp.....all mediocre at best as head coaches. Papa Saban's greatness not rubbing off? Whats the deal?

True. We can't all be so lucky to have a coach who has gone 13-26 in his SEC head coaching career.

Nick didn't hire them to be future head coaches, he hired them to be good coordinators, which they were.

Kirby has been the coach at Georgia for roughly 30 minutes.
McElwain is 16-6 (11-3) at Florida in 2.5 years. He took over a Colorado State program that had gone 9-27 the previous 3 years and took them to 2 bowl games in 3 years, going 10-2 his last year there. What a bum.

Jason Garrett
Not a huge fan personally, but he has 6+ seasons of over .500 football in the NFL.

It's tough to coach when you can't just out-talent everyone. Hence why Nick was absolute garbage in the NFL.

Why do lsu fans make such terrible posters?

Jim McElwain also has 2x 10 win seasons, has won the SEC east once, and may do it again.
Yes, the East may be the worst Div of the power 5, but I wouldn't sign him up as terrible just yet.
And, I'd add Dooley to the bad list

Same reason some of his former players struggle, they are used to being micro-managed by Saban.
Some are able to adjust and others cannot succeed with the "freedom". They need everything planned out and once that goes away, they don't know where to start.
See: Trent Richardson. He admitted that he was pulled in too many directions and lost focus.

Steve Spurrier went to the NFL, came back and kicked arse.
Nick Saban went to the NFL, came back and kicked arse.
Bobby Petrino went to the NFL, came back and kicked arse.
Jim Harbaugh went to the NFL, came back and kicked arse.
Someday you people will realize that the NFL and the NCAA are two totally different games.
Also if I'm LSU and aware of the information above, I'm knocking on Chip Kelly's door right now with a blank check in my hand.

Why do LSU fans look for anything to convince themselves that Nick Saban is not a great coach, even if it doesn't at all relate to Nick Saban as a head coach?
If every Saban assistant from here to eternity is a bust, and every Alabama player in the NFL gets cut, and every "Gump" lives in a trailer and beats his sister...
...does that mean Nick Saban must not be good? Does that validate your corndog arse in any way?

These are the same people that convinced themselves that Ed fricking Orgeron was the answer to their coaching situation.

All these years and people still believe this lie. 15-17 over two seasons is not garbage.

Some of his former players struggle because the NFL the peak of football. Go back and look at the 1st round for each of the last 10 years. You'll find that roughly 40% of the players - regardless of where they went to college - who were taken in the 1st round were out of the league within 6 years. This isn't a Saban or Bama thing. It's an NFL thing. It just seems magnified b/c Bama puts more players in the league.
For every "bust" (trent and ??) I can list 3 very good to solid players.

Because Saban runs the show, he has never really had a defensive coordinator, only in name only.
Kiffin is great under Saban's control but I don't see Kiffin being successful as a head coach even though offers will come. He's a loose cannon that Saban has masterfully reined in and used for his benefit.

McElwain will be a very good coach once he gets a QB with a pulse.
