Any particular reason Alabama plays down to LSU's level year after year?

We all know LSU hasn't been good for a while and lose to other SEC West teams on a consistent basis. But for whatever reason they keep the game usually tight with Bama and fight hard.

So the question is does LSU play inspired football against Bama for some reason or does Bama actually play down to LSU's level?

The overpowering corndog aroma flares up their anathema.

It makes the outcome that much more painful.

We've won 4 of the last 6 meetings by 2+ scores. IDK what you're talking about.

This is such a sad attempt at trolling. "My team sucks, why didn't you beat us worse?" So fricking embarrassing.

It all depends on which Bama team shows up to face Bama. Sometimes, Bama plays down to Bama and Bama has beaten Bama in the past. Other times, Bama whipes the floor with Bama and they don't beat themselves.

Only every other year. But I'm still not happy about it. Bama should have put up 20+ Saturday.

Saving it up for the playoffs. No reason to go full speed against a lightweight. The days of Alabama players having to get up for an LSU are long gone.

Alabama plays very conservative against LSU because every year the defense is awesome. If we turn the ball over, then we can lose. The games are close because Alabama respects the fact that the D alone can beat you.

Just my opinion.

Saban doesn't like to run it up on L6U.

Saban is conservative by nature. He knows these are going to be defensive battles and he doesn't want to lose due to TO's. For this game, he knew that LSU's offense was limited so all they had to do was shutdown Fournette again, which they did. If he had been playing against a prolific offense like Louisville for instance, it would be been a completely different/more wide-open game.

LSU is the only team in the SEC with a comparable talent level to Alabama. Playing the #1 team in the nation has a way of motivating you, especially when they "stole" your coach and won the last 5 in a row.

The Alabama/LSU game is the best game of the year in the SEC when it comes to talent and intensity. Why try to turn that into some messed up troll, rather than enjoying the fact that your team can go toe to toe with the best when they play their hearts out?

This thread is not factually accurate, but even if it was it would still be incredibly embarrassing for OP and the L6U fanbase in general. I suggest retreating to Tiger Rant to lick your wounds until you can get your emotions under control.

LSU is immensely talented and one of few teams who can be as physical as Bama. Saban though is a far superior coach and finds ways to win regardless of the style his team has to play to win.

Don't think we play down, just think that, since 1/9, that the Bama game is LSU's Super Bowl every year and they get amped up and play inspired...and it'll probably continue to be their Super Bowl until they win. No doubt LSU has lots of talent so they should always be competitive against us...

Case in point...I'm familiar with several of the studs on LSU's defense: White, Adams, Beckwith, Godchaux, and Key. Not being an LSU fan, hadn't heard as much 'bout Dwayne Thomas, Duke Riley, and Lewis Neal...yet all 3 of those played outstanding against Bama. Not saying they haven't played well all year, just saying I hadn't heard much 'bout 'em before and, in that game, they played as well as any of the aforementioned studs did...
