Florida gets two home games straight in the Swamp against LSU to make up for it. So financially they are not being hurt.

Your math is off, Florida is losing a home game. We lost 2 this season and only get one additional next season.

--The number of Alabama fans who have decent intelligence and don't frick their sisters.

Comments from both Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley and SEC commissioner Greg Sankey have indicated frustration with Alleva for drawing a public line in the sand that LSU would play a home game on Nov. 19 no matter what. As public pressure mounted to get the game played, Florida relented.

After the crap sandwich that Foley and Stankey handed Alleva, why shouldn't he have drawn that line?

Florida’s position from the start has been that the uncertainty of the hurricane’s path, combined with the unknowns regarding what kind of damage to the local community and public services it might wreak, necessitated the game be postponed.

BS. 100%.

The bottom line is that a childish Alleva puts out the entirely stupid assertion that another SEC team is trying to duck a game and the LSU moron fans latched onto the notion and selectively reinforce their own notions in a childish sandbox argument.

I never thought LSU fans were idiots until this year. This whole hurricane thing has proven that LSU fans are really really gullible and a bunch of whiny morons.

Why would Florida want to duck an SEC game against a team that was lost, just lost its head coach, didn't have their top player available, and not have an SEC home game? It is really just a bunch of LSU stupidity.

Because I can see you're not biased at all. I'm sure if this happened to your team you'd just roll over and give up your home game, no questions asked. Hell, let's even make it on Florida's bye week!

Frankly, these emails are yet another embarrassment to LSU

If an author is going to editorialize his own opinions in a news article, it should be clearly labeled as an editorial piece. This is shitty journalism.

Where is the evidence that this has embarrassed LSU in any way? If anything, this leaked e-mail reassures the LSU fans that their AD is not completely out of touch with reality and can see Florida's dodge for what it was.

Many people in SEC circles believe Alleva seized on the issue with Florida to help boost his own job status, as his own fan base considers it a win to negotiate his way into an extra home game this season.

what a crock of shite. The SEC blew it, period and these morons, including OP, believe anything they are told. Hey bro, Martians just landed in Oregon

So another school should be made to suffer because you had to give up a home because of weather, and in return you get to add an SEC home game to your schedule the next year? Perhaps you are the one dense in the head. LSU had to give up a home to game to play your game, so they are not gaining much other than a home field advantage, which you get back in the future.

What are you talking about? Alleva had a fiduciary responsibility to get the best deal for his organization possible. To acquiesce to Florida's demands was unacceptable on numerous levels.

1) LSU would lose a home game and Florida was not offering to relinquish a home game at a later date. It was Florida wanting all of the goodies

2) LSU would have to play 3 road games in 12 days....something no other SEC team has ever been asked to do thus severely impacting their post season positioning.

Alleva got the best deal possible for his team and organization. Going forward, Florida does not do too bad either.

A contingency plan is a course of action designed to help an organization respond effectively to a significant future event or situation that may or may not happen.

A contingency plan is sometimes referred to as "Plan B," because it can be also used as an alternative for action if expected results fail to materialize. Contingency planning is a component of business continuity, disaster recovery and risk management.

To me this is the issue. Foley waited until Thursday to finally say "hmmm, OK, we can't play this game Saturday". If on Monday morning of the week leading up to the game, when Gainesville was in the cone of the storm, they started to look at moving the game to Sunday or Monday, they allow themselves a few extra days to observe the situation. This is a contingency plan. See link above for more clarity.

Let's say they move it to Monday. This is the maximum amount of wiggle room they can give themselves. Now, we knew for a while the storm was supposed to affect the Gainesville area sometime between 7 pm Friday and 10 pm Saturday. This takes into account the uncertainty of hurricane path and movement speed. If Gainesville was catastrophically damaged, or at least emergency services were too heavily taxed in the surrounding areas, no one would (should?) fault them for moving the game to Monday and then having to cancel. At that point, Florida created a contingency plan and were forced to cancel by unfortunate circumstances. After that, the next step is further evaluation of options.

This was my stance the entire time. There was no attempt to plan for contingencies, and that is absolutely ridiculous for people that run major organizations.
