It's looking more and more like this hurricane is going to hit directly on Jacksonville where I have a lot of family and friends. Y'all take a moment to say a prayer today for everybody up the coast of Florida and Jacksonville in particular. I'm leaving Gainesville tomorrow and headed home to Atlanta for the weekend to try to stay away from the storms.
Y'all stay safe in South Georgia and the coasts of Carolina too. This is a big storm coming.

It's projected to go more westerly than it was a few days ago. Looking like the coast is going to take a direct hit. Stay safe

A category 5 hurricane isn't cause for panic?

My favorite town in Florida. Lots of friends I have been in contact with are headed towards Live Oak, Valdosta area. Its been a loooong time since Jville had a hit. Hang in there Duval County.

It's barely a category 3. It's going to be offshore the whole time. It sure as shite not going to make landfall on Jacksonville

Man, here's hoping that front that is out in the Rockies pushes through faster than projected. If it does, it could keep the worst of this out in the Atlantic.

Father, we ask you to protect those in the path of the storm.
Give them calm judgment and wisdom to make decisions for themselves and their families.
For those who’ve already suffered loss, we pray for peace, comfort, and courage.
We come to you believing in both your power and your goodness.
Amen.

It's not hitting jacksonville, it's not a cat 5, and msgarrisson is an auburn fan. You need better sources of info.

It is very rare for a storm to hit Jacksonville directly. Lived there some back in the day.
Storm patterns and landmass save it. Could get nasty, but I would not think catastrophic.
The evacuation is much worse, took me 12 hours to get from Jacksonville to Tallahassee one time

"Matthew briefly reached Category 5 hurricane status — with winds exceeding 157 mph (252 km/h) — on Oct. 1, NASA reported. Matthew dropped to Category 4 strength soon after, with maximum sustained winds calculated at a still-dizzying 140 mph (225 km/h) on Oct. 3. "
