Why Was Les Miles Fired In Mid-Season?

Was the timing such that it allowed Orgeron to get a quality audition to keep the job on a full time basis?
Looks like the coup when the Poole's pushed out Coach John Vaught at Ole Miss.
Alleva allowed Les Miles to keep Cam at the end of last season. Why would anybody in their right mind think Cam was suddenly going to become a good OC?

Because the way we were playing we were eyeing a 5-7 season.
Try and get some kind of spark and make at least a shitty bowl game.

There was fear that he would string together a few wins and potentially save his job again. Trigger should have been pulled at the end of last season.

Seems like you would've pulled the trigger last offseason if you were this ready to fire him. Now you've wasted a whole year

Aggy is .500 in the SEC since extending Sumlin's contract and hail themselves as coaching experts.
Never change.
Never change.

Aggies also ran off the responsible AD.

Alleva told Miles to fire Cam last year, Miles refused, Alleva wanted to fire Miles, F. King Alexander stopped it.
This time around, Alexander tried the same thing, but he had no power to stop it.

That could happen with Orgeron

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense now.

Alleva didn't notice until 4 games into the season that Cam was still OC?

To answer your other question:
Yes and to make it very clear that the HC position would be open at LSU.

There is probably more to the story than they are letting out. It was not just the fact that he has lost two games that he probably should have won.
You don't pull the trigger like that unless, A) He broke some deal and lied to Alleva and some key members of the BOS or B) He lost his edge, some of the other coaches like Orgeron knew it and let Alleva, et al know what was up and that the season was going to be a total tank.
I'll bet that John Chavis knows what is up more than most people. DC's like him don't jump ship like he did unless he saw something disturbing.

How does the Aggies feel about officially never beating Miles at LSU?

It happened with him at USC a couple of years ago. I don't know if he'll be able to pull off 6-2 like he did then.

Lol
Clearly, the answer is insecure.

Yeah, Cameron was a bad hire. The fact that Baltimore ran him off during (not before) their Super Bowl season should have told us something.

NFLSU fails math.
Sumlin's contract was extended after the 2013 season. A&M has only played 18 SEC games since then. It isn't possible for Sumlin's SEC record to be 13-13 since the contract extension even at the end of THIS season.
