So..How does LSU explain Les' $12 million Buy-Out to other State Employees?

State employees in Louisiana have only had one merit pay raise in 9 years. The state went bankrupt June 30th, laid off tons of employees, and is borrowing money from Wall Street to pay state employees. All Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges are totally bankrupt as well as LSU. The 2016 Budget Deficit is $300 million and the State Budget deficit for 2017 is $2 Billion!
How does LSU convince the Governor and all the other Louisiana State employees who haven't had a raise in years to pay Miles $12 million buy out and pay another coach $6 million?

This is probably one of those times where it really pays to have 99% of the state pulling in the same direction when it comes to college football team support

TAF money, not the state's money

LSU football runs a profit and the proceeds go back to education?
I mean how else would they pitch it

Look at the average education level and standard of living in Louisiana
Shouldnt be hard to make up anything and have it stick

I don't know if any of that is true or related but it won't matter for all of the crap Bama fans get Louisiana or name your state would cough the money up and not even complain. Football is too important these days.

Money that pays Les is separate from other state employees. Idiot.

Private funds. Is it that difficult to understand?

The absurdity of the pay levels of college coaches is incredible.

Not even an LSU fan and I can tell you the answer. Funds for this will mostly come from private donors and a little bit from the athletic department, which doesn't take state subsidies. There's probably not much if any state money tied up in this transaction, including buying out another coach.
Besides, most of the constituents you're even referring to are LSU fans and wouldn't even BEGIN to bitch about the funds, as long as they bring in a big name.

It would be a hard sell if they were paid from the same source but they aren't.
The athletics program at LSU uses zero tax payer money. On the contrary the athletics dept gives money to the academics/tax payer run portion yearly

Watching Louisiana, Mississippi, Bama, Arkansas Etc Etc insult the others for being "dumb poor rednecks"

This is like people bitching about Cal's salary at UK. A very small portion of his base pay is paid by the state. The rest is all endorsements and K-Fund.
LSU would likely tell the morons to frick off.

Because the money doesn't come from the state. Are you really that dense?

Part of my job duties are to analyze Benefit costs in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Louisiana is the only state on that list that is insolvent and bankrupt. The employees are literally living paycheck to paycheck not knowing if their jobs will exist in 2017.
There is a new Governor who has publically said if the Legislature doesn't raise taxes he will let LSU athletics founder. Now LSU has to pay a $12 million buy out and hire a new coach with probably the highest starting salary in the history of college football? I sense a backlash from the Governor and state employees.
