Does anyone think Lane Kiffin will ever be successful as a head coach?

I can't help but think he was thrown into two awful situations at Tenn and USC. I think his time at bama under the best college football coach of this generation will help him immensely whenever he gets his next shot. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't be entirely disappointed if LSU ended up getting him............after Herman says no.

You couldn't afford to fire Les Miles last year and now you are getting Herman or kiffin?

It's really hard to say. Being a head coach is so different from being an assistant or coordinator, and Kiffin would probably be the first to tell you that. But he has been there before, he probably knows what he would do differently next time, and he's certainly an outstanding offensive mind. We'll probably see him get another chance soon.

I think he gets a chance in the next three years. Someone will give him a shot.

When Saban retires, I can't think of 5 likely candidates I'd rather have.

Lane Kiffin will win a National Title as a head coach, IMO.

Nope.

Maybe he'd be a successful HS head coach. But even that is doubtful.

I think he will be in heavy consideration. I really don't think we have a chance with Herman and I think we blew our chance with Jimbo.

I'm not sure there are other candidates that I would take over Kiffin.

He'd be successful at getting a 5th head coaching job after he flops at his 4th head coaching job.

Honesty, I would think he could and would be very successful... I would hope that he would extend his tenure at Bama for 3 - 5 years, before attempting to take a program as HC. Not sure he will be completely ready then. But, looking over at JimMc and Kirby, he may want to model their behaviors. I think his HC experience has just proven to hinder his development.

Define success. Do I think he'll be a HC again? Sure. Will he take teams to bowls? Sure. Will he compete for a MNC? Probably not

Yes. Despite displaying immaturity at times, he won two thirds of his games at USC while missing 30 scholarships.

He'll be a head coach again next season.

Sarkisian is being interviewed to become Kiffin's replacement.

His Dad knew football too. He couldn't cut it as a head coach either.

And he knew it.

Lane might be different.

His biggest problem at Tennessee and USC was Monte Kiffin. The defense always held them back, and it was because it was his dad. He has always recruited well. He learned under Pete Carroll. He has learned for three years under Saban. He will be a GREAT head coach.

Define successful.

I think he will be good, but some of those personality traits that hurt him are probably being suppressed by Saban. I think they might resurface as soon as he gets the keys again.
