8 dropped ints? 6 maybe. People get confused because there were 4 against MIZZ. But there weren't may more. He completed 63%. that's pretty accurate.
All that said, IF, and it's a big if, JE knows the playbook and can be trusted to make the checks and reads and has the team trust to lead , then by all means. But Chubb and Sony and the others that might be in their last season, deserve to have the best fit on the field. And just because some want JE to take the lumps this year and the season be damned; is just not right. But if they want to go to battle with him, then by all means lock it on and let's go.

The guy didn't lose any games for us. We were just completely out matched against Bama and we were right there with UT. It wasn't his fault we lost either game.
If you're gonna be a great team, you need more than a QB who doesn't lose games. You need a QB who will win games for you. One who will be ready to match an opposing team in a shootout, or one who is ready to step up when the opponent stuffs the box to take away your run game. Before anyone says anything about Alabama not needing a great QB, Jake Coker went 25/30 for about 300 yards against Michigan State when they took Henry out of the game.

The only thing that makes me nervous with Eason is readiness.
He looks the part at practice granted. He is the future, clearly.
But this ain't Stafford and Murray who played HS ball in Texas and Florida. He played in Washington state. Is he ready for this , who the heck knows? Maybe he is , I hope he is!

Baylor set a school record rushing the ball against Chizik's defense less than a year ago. 645 yards rushing in one game.
With improved o-line play and Chubb even at 85% I'm not worried about the Heels stopping our running game.

UNC is a good (decent team) to break him in. I don't give a shite what any of you say about Chizic and his defensive alleged brilliance, but they're not any good. They lack size and depth. The only way they beat UGA IMO is to score a ton because they're gonna give up a lot.

8 dropped ints? 6 maybe.

If you count the missed ints, you have to count the drops we had too.

Just to be clear, shall I assume the mental aspect of being a QB is not a metric in this argument?

Especially the for sure TD against UT

Well since we don't care about the season it's just about preparing for 2017. Let's start EH, and tell the rest of the backs we need to prepare him. I know you only care about building a future dynasty, but the team wants to this season. And I promise you they could care less what you want.
And as I have already said twice, if the players think he's ready and want him in there , then that's great and I'm all for it. But the team does deserve a chance and they should be able to trust who's in there.

I put a spotlight on Lambert breaking the dropped gimme INT all-time record last year and people rolled their eyes and said "whatever". Then the ajc started parroting it and pointed out that there were FOUR against miZzzouri alone... and so now people believe that part of it, at least, i guess.
I honestly think there were probably around 16 of them total. And again, we're not talking about defenders making a great play, or risky passes by Lambert. I'm talking about passes he lobbed directly to defenders with no receiver anywhere near....and the defender was so shocked by it that he spazzed out and dropped it after it hit them in the numbers.

In the private school white boy league. On top of that.

I never said this is a lost season, I do think that winning the east is our ceiling, and I think there is a decent shot of that happening. We are just as capable of getting to the SECCG with Eason as we are with HappyFeet McCheckDown imo, with the added bonus of getting him experience so that he can be a special QB in a year or two. I know for a fact that last year there were guys on the team who openly talked about how much Lambert and the offense sucked. Talent recognizes talent, there's a reason why when Eason committed guys on the team tweeted about how excited/happy they were.

quote:Kirby has said in interviews that he will consult some of the veterans and leaders of the offense to see how they feel about who should start. Considering Eason is running with the 1s a week from kickoff I'd take a shot in the dark and say that overall they're okay with it.

You've backed yourself into a corner defending a backup from a crappy ACC school, if I were you I'd bail.

Apparently not. Nor is the psychology that coaches carefully use when dealing with young talented prodigy QBs.
It makes no sense for them to start him ag ainst UNC. Just let him share snaps and build confidence and work his way into it. Instead of possibly crashing and burning out of the gate and becoming a head case because he was thrown to the wolves too quickly.

So its really not outrageous to say that overall he's about a 50/50 TD/INT guy.
Except it is outrageous because he had 6 TDs for every one interception. Don't let math and facts get in the way of your rhetoric...

I think the false assumption is that any experince is positive for a QB . It's not the case... This is not even up for debate.

I'm tired of trying to remind people how bad Lambert was last year so I'll try to finish with this. Eason has seemed to pass every test so far, so maybe its not crazy to think he's ready to take the reins.
He came in the spring with a lot of hype, worked with the 3s without complaining and by all indications had good spring practices. Then comes G-Day, 93,000 + there to see him, crowd going crazy as soon as he steps on the field and how does he respond? By throwing strikes like he was in the backyard at home with nobody watching. Then comes the summer, where he beefs up enough so that we're no longer worried about him breaking in half after he takes his first sack, now fast forward to camp. He worked his way up the depth chart, with practice reports about him being positive for the most part. And then last week he got his shot to work exclusively with the ones, and from what we've heard Kirby didn't make it easy on him, with what was described as a "Trial by Fire". It sounded like JE was blitzed and had more thrown at him that any of the other QBs did. He's done all of this while being very humble and without getting into trouble or doing something stupid to embarrass the team.
After all that, a first year defensive minded coach with a lot of pressure to win appears to be comfortable handing JE the keys to the ride. The same coach who said in the spring that he would really rather not start a True Freshman QB, so if he's okay with it then so am I.

When Jameis Winston started, he had only been on FSU campus 6 months longer than Eason has been at UGA... and Winston's first year was pretty damn good.

private school whiteboy league? Have you ever been to Washington? Ain't NOTHING but whiteboys (and girls) out there!
