Don't know if it's reputable, but if it's true....
Then the truth HURTS.

Hurts very well may be the starter, but I doubt Saban announces it until September 3 about 10 minutes before the game lol

If this is true, Saban will never verify it until game time. I'd hate to be the person that leaked this (if it's true). Heads will roll

Guys he would have to be heads and shoulders better than Bateman before he gets the start and that means making better decisions. Hurts will get on the field during the year but if you have to rely on a true freshman QB you're in trouble. He will be good for a few bad decisions in big games. He is not ready to face Tiger stadium or OM on the road. I'm sure he'll be great one day but I don't think he gets the nod.

Bateman has underwhelmed and Hurts has done the opposite. Time to get used to it.

I'd rather have Hurts start at QB and go on the road in a hostile environment than a guy who had a deer in headlights look in Bryant Denny last time he started.

The article is by Stephen M. Smith. I've heard him on Tide 102.9 before and he seemed knowledgeable, but there's no way to know when they start talking "sources"

Look all I'm saying is outside of AJ 2012, every year we do this same thing. The new guy is always looking better only to see the guy who may have less talent but makes less mistakes win the job. I'm not arguing for or against anyone. I'm just saying that a lot of you are going to be disappointed I think because it is very difficult for a true freshman to open the season against USC who is legitimate and play the road schedule Bama has this year. It will be brutal. There also seems to be some concern as voiced by Saban in the running game. He will need a string running game if he will be successful.

What makes you think Bateman won't make some bad decisions in some big games and that he's ready to face OM or LSU on the road?

One thing about this particular point is Hurts (in theory) actually helps the running game by being able to run the ball himself.

I will absolutely concede that point. I'm not saying Bateman is the answers because I'm not on any QB team, but I think the fans are in for some disappointment with all of the hype surrounding him at this time. I will not be surprised if Bateman or Barnette go out there ahead of him just based on more experience reading defenses and such.

Good thing that game is 2 and 1/2 months, 9 games, and dozens of practices from now.

or OM on the road

This will be a test for sure. No matter the QB it will be their first true road game as the man and will only have a couple of games under their belt. I have a feeling the defense is going to need to play lights out in this one.

Roll Bama Roll had an article earlier today discrediting Smith's report, but that has since been deleted.

if this is true, it pretty much seals the deal that both Barnett and Cornwall transfer out.
