SC is talented this year, but playing Bama the very first game will be brutal for us. New QB, D line is still thin, and our Oline is overrated. I do think by the end of the year we'll have a solid team, but this is just a very bad match up for us.

Yea, I think USC has talent to make plays against us, I just don't think the matchups are very favorable. Style of offense + new/non playmaker type at QB + young/inexperienced DL is not the recipe to beat us. It's the opposite.

However, SC has athletes who can bust one against anyone, and we are starting a new QB who either will (a) be a true freshman, (b) be known as a turnover machine in practices or (c) be a guy who had turnover issues in his one game last year.

So, those sorts of things can make up for matchup issues.

I think the first half will be competitive, but you guys start pulling away in the 3rd quarter. Our starting left tackle is battling plantar fasciitis, which is causing a lot of issues with our starting Oline. I'm very, very concerned about that spot going against that Dline of yours.

No.

The clay Helton hiring was horrible. Kiffin and Sarkisian are like Knute Rockne compared to him.

If USC had made a decent HC hire I'd say they might have a slim chance.

I think Bama wins, but it wouldn't surprise me if they struggled in this game.

Inexperienced Bama QB- but has that mattered for them, of late? Plus, I would be shocked if Alabama's defense doesn't smother them.

USC will be facing a really good defense. They have some playmakers but getting them the ball would be key. If the QB isn't mobile it's going to be really tough.

I'd expect our O to struggle some, depends on QB and some other things like OL gel, WR sync with new QB etc.

Adoree Jackson will do work. USC is probably my second most hated team after Gumps.

Defense sucks

Yes. It's gonna be a neutral site. They are a top 10 team talent wise, have the advantage at RB, the best WR in the country and a great secondary. Bama will still win by 2 or 3 possessions though.

I think that Alabama has some problems facing USC. The one thing USC has been producing is very good and competent QB's and even if there is a Freshman( Darnold) starting or Browne, their scheme is pretty good and the O line always seems to be very good no matter what the "experts" say.

Saban's teams seem to have problems facing competent and mobile competent QB's Defensively, I would not underestimate the Trojan's defense.

Clancy Pendergast is the West Coast version of Kirby Smart except that Pedergast has coached defenses in the NFL and got one of them to the Super Bowl....Arizona in 2008. He knows what he's doing every bit as much as Saban does and definitely more than Jeremy Pruitt

Their QBs are all pro-style, sit in the pocket, non-runners. Not a whole lot of those who have found success against Alabama.

But USC isn't going to have one of those

..........and then promptly got fired 1 week after that Super Bowl. They were 17th in YPP, 21st in Rush YPA, 28th in scoring defense. That team went to the Super Bowl in spite of their defense.

I think 0-0 is about as close as this one gets.

Their front end talent will keep them in the game for 2-2.5 quarters. Alabama's depth is just too much for them in the end, IMO.

This is how I feel as well. Not enough depth, or at least I don't know enough about their depth...

Pretty much hit it on the head with the strengths and weaknesses. The thing to watch out for with USC is they have some VERY talented players at individual positions. However, this game would have been much more epic in 2017. It's Helton's first full year and there's going to be kinks.
