You know spurrier would have that UF golf team on point

It was time. College sports have entered a new era, and he was the best from a previous era. Him stepping down at the right time solidifies him as a GOAT AD.

Give the example of who is leading the new era.

McGarity bleeds red and black. He's not leaving UGA, even it meant coming (back) to a better athletics department.

That really wasn't my point, as I don't think any AD has yet fully acclimated to the new environment. Maybe I would say Oregon is almost there but they gotten a lot of help from Nike. They are definitely the AD pointed in the right direction with a lot of recent national titles, good facilities, and an emphasis on what will matter going forward.
My point was more that Foley had a formula that worked and it carried him a long way, but that day is done. The college sports world isn't going to allow for frugality in pay or facilities going forward, and soon ADs that can leverage branding and fundraising will be more valuable than the ones who can pick out which assistent coach will be the next great head coach. He was a GOAT in his era, which is all anyone can be.

Prior to his arrival, UGA was up there with uf as an all around great athletic program. Mcgarity is a big reason why it has tanked

The SEC overall All-Sports Trophy has gone to the Gators in 24 of Foley's 25 years as the AD.

We'll honor him by delivering his first baseball national championship

I think he misinterprets what that means though... as in red/black in purely accounting terms. He's a penny pincher that doesn't seem to give much thought to the actual on field performance, only insomuch as it impacts the bottom line (ie. the reserve fund).

McGarity, since taking over at Georgia, has been just about the opposite of Foley as far as success. Especially at the big 3.

So much so that he left for UF once already

We got one AD from LSU and won't be making that mistake again. A converted coach nonetheless.

Unless Fuchs has one in mind from his previous positions I would think we'll promote someone from within the current AD office.
I hope Foley is planning on focusing on fundraising only. That's an area where he could slow down a bit and still do great work for UF.

Finally. He should have been fired with Muschamp

He has had a long and great career. Going to be a tough act to follow.
