Yep Vanderbilt has done just as much this season as LSU has, and is as deserving of a seed as they are. I still feel USC needs to win a few in Hoover to solidify it's position: LSU needs to win the whole thing...

LSU isn't deserving of a top 8 seed this year. Very happy with how the team improved down the stretch, though. Hopefully they can make some noise.

A&M against top teams:
2-1 against LSU
3-0 against State
2-1 against Ole Miss
0-3 against Florida
2-1 against Vandy
2-1 against USC
Overall: 11-7
Locked for a national seed.

LSU has to win the SEC tourney to get a national seed in my opinion.
SEC is a lock for 3: UF, MSU, and A&M.
USC has a little work to do. I think they need to win 2 or 3 games.
This is probably fair, no idea if accurate with the committee though.

Where is Alabama on that list? Oh, this is a sport other than football. Never mind.

I think we are out unless make SEC champ game, Ole Miss and USC may be in the same boat

LSU should be in over USC imo. better overall resume and better finish to the season at this point

Well I heard a guy from Baseball America on a local radio show back on wednesday or thursday and he said something like "The SEC truly deserves 5 spots if you look at that conference but I don't think the Ncaa is going to do that. They're going to want the wealth spread around, like, someome in the northeast gets one etc."
He went on to say regionals should be merrit based but that the Ncaa doesn't always think that way.

LSU is not deserving of one.

SEC is going to be dominant in the CWS.

If Eric Hyman is on the committee, A&M.

I think that is a fair ranking of the top 6.

A case could be made for 6 but we both know that will never happen.
ETA: And as much as I hate saying so, that would include OM. The SEC was brutal this year.

quote:Didn't work out quite that good for LSU, at 9 in the official RPI (up from 12). This late in the season, adding Florida's SOS to your figures doesn't change much, and winning 2/3 at home doesn't give you near the boost that winning 2/3 on the road would. LSU is certainly in the conversation for a national seed, but they probably need a great week at Hoover to pull it off (getting to the championship might do it, depending on who wins the other side of the bracket).
LSU had an RPI of 9 before taking 2/3 from the Number 1 team in Country so will be top 7 this week
I think the OP has the order right, heading in to Hoover. We're probably only getting four, and the top three are locked in, IMO.

My prediction, as of today:
1. Louisville
2. Florida
3. Miami
4. A&M
5. USC
6. Texas Tech
7. Mississippi State
8. Virginia
Yes, the first five are RPI chalk. I think the first four are a given, though the order could change. MSU is a lock, but may not be seeded all that high, given the RPI (they might even get the 8 seed, which would look like they are on the bubble, but they aren't at all). USC is in poll position for the fourth SEC national seed. UVA edges NC State for the third ACC national seed. Texas Tech gets the token non-SEC/ACC national seed.

State will land in the 5 spot. Book it.

I think it will go like this.
1. Louisville
2. Florida
3. Texas A&M
4. Miami
5. Mississippi State
6. Texas Tech
7. South Carolina
8. Cal State Fullerton
There's a big driver that no one is talking about. They need a West Coast Super Regional to take advantage of late TV time slots. No one in the Pac 12 is going to do it, Fullerton gets it by default.
Other Regional Hosts
LSU
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
Arizona (with Florida Atlantic as the 1 seed)
Virginia
Louisiana-Lafayette
Florida State
TCU
Super Regional Pairings
Louisville - Ole Miss
Florida - Arizona
Texas A&M - Louisiana-Lafayette
Miami- Florida State
Mississippi State - LSU
Texas Tech - TCU
South Carolina - Virginia
Cal State Fullerton - Vanderbilt
