How many of you would give your right eye to walk out on the field or court for an SEC team? How many of you grew up pretending that you were NFL or MLB player? How many of you grew up in families with modest means? How many of you that went to college had to take out loans to attend school? I cannot understand how young talented men (from any program)can do some of the mindless things that they do when fame and fortune await many of them. God has given me many blessings so I have no right to complain. I am not a flag waver , but I think I hit the lottery just be being born in the US. I have a decent job and good family. I wish that I could run 1 4.3, or throw a baseball 100mph. These young men need to wise up and grow up. Many more things could be done at the college level to educate these guys in terms of character. Good luck to these guys; I wish I had been given talent and opportunity that you have. I would have done the right thing.

Very well said. I think it's a generational issue. I'm not saying that kids haven't been doing dumb shite for centuries but kids now have no work ethic and have major entitlement issues. Too much is given to them or their hands are held for an exuberant amount of time to baby them through it. Some blame belongs on the parents . Some blame belongs on the individual, and some blame belongs on society for catering to them.

What's funny? You don't agree that kids now a days are coddled ? That they have entitlement issues? If so , my guess is you are one.

That's been the go-to response of the older generations for literally the entirety of human civilization

Assuming that this thread is about Cam, their behavior has nothing to do with any particular generation. People throwing away great opportunities isn't restricted to any one generation.

I don't believe that the OP was just referring to Cam. If so then disregard my statement. It seems that he was speaking out to any athlete with God given ability that takes it for granted . It's not exclusive to college. Their are plenty of NFL players in their 20's making the same stupid choices.

Like that guy just said. People have been wasting great opportunities forever. Not a specific generations issue.

The current generation is a product of past generations.
It annoys me when I see people blaming the entitled nature of the younger generations for current state of issues. Who do you think is responsible for raising and educating these younger generations that they are so critical of? That's where the true problems and failures lie.
Not saying that is what is happening in this thread but just something to think about when people start spouting off generational debates.

That's pisses me off more than anything! Yea, I know we all poke fun at opposing fans, but these TPOS's have the world at that fingertips ! Most folks on here can on dream of the opportunity these dumb fricks get! Yet they continue to blow it. Pisses me off!

So many of these kids get away with so much shite. What they get popped for is just a fraction of what goes on and it makes them pretty bold because they get away with so much.

Everyone wastes opportunities; not just college athletes.

This is a great point. Honestly, hardly any of these players are as big of fans of the school they play for as we are. Most don't work hard at it and we don't understand that. A lot of us would do anything to put that uniform on. It just doesn't mean as much to these kids. I know bama players personally that couldn't tell u what "the goal line stand" is or "the kick". You're getting into players now who don't remember saban coaching LSU or auburn kids who have no idea who pat dye is.

SuperSaint, you are right. My post was inspired by today's events, but I am addressing all young athletes who are making these choices. I am pro LSU, but I acknowledge the same types of mistakes by our players also as well as many other schools in our conference. These guys have got to wake up and follow the straight and narrow. Drugs and violence are a sure path to trouble.

I don't understand how kids think. When I was young, I was pretty wild. I wasn't on scholarship with rules though. I didn't have millions just waiting on me. These kids play a game..... a freaking game that can make them millions, and they do stupid shite. I don't understand. If I could follow rules and make millions, I'd do it in a heartbeat

Bull shite this generation has been taught only one fricking thing that it is all about me. U millennial types are tied to the idiots in the media and Hollywood who think they know better than the people who really work for this country. It's a sad future we face when the youth doesn't have the guts to call out the assholes in Washington
