I am betting Georgia is pretty damn good this year.

Silly thought processes going on in that first post. Personally, I don't think saban is the worthless mentor you think he is just as belechick wasn't for saban.

I will never believe they actually fired Mark Richt for Kirby f'n Smart. If he is there for three years I will be shocked.

You disagreed with an idiotic post from vcu with some seriously flawed logic. Ask yourself, Why did we fire richt? Whatever the answer is, it's Not because of low expectations.

I don't think Kirby has the personality or mental toughness to match Saban's on field success - or even come close. No one knows exactly what's going to happen but I don't think Kirby can get Georgia to the promised land. In fact - I don't think he'll be able to match Mark Richt's level of success. Kirby's a great defensive coach. He's proven that. But - he hasn't proven anything else. Success as a first time Head Coach is very hard to forecast.
Lol at this sequence of thoughts

Also there are reasons Saban and others are successful at Bama:
1) at Bama there is an unlimited football budget; including gold plated (really over the top) football facilities
2) no admissions office interference (also Bama is one of only three SEC schools, along with Ole Miss and MS State) that accept Ds as acceptance for high school students and junior college transfers
3) The Bama head football coach reports to no one, there is no higher authority at Bama unless there are severe ethics violations or loses to Auburn
These conditions will not follow Smart to UGA.

We will be pretty damn good this year, just like almost every year under Richt. The question is, will we be GREAT next year or the following year.

All I read was fear. Your argument is Kirby will never win 5 national titles, well no shite. You’re passing judgement on a coach who has never fielded a team. Sounds rather ridiculous.
Contradicting yourself in your initial argument? I’m glad you’re smart enough to make that bold forecast. Get the frick out of here
For the record, no UGA fan thinks Kirby will come close to Saban’s success. There is only one Nick Saban in the history of college football.
Do you feel better now?

I could call plays at bama and look like a genius with the talent they have. Kirby's recruiting was also propped up by the saban machine.
Your calling Smart a failure before he coaches his first game is just as bad as anybody calling him a success. Nobody has called him a success, but I see several in this thread calling him a failure. Seems rather odd and a lot like hopes and wishes.

All we expect is him to have the team ready to play at a high level and not have repeats of last year's Bama game. We're not expecting him to come in year one and win a natty.

Wow. Did you think at all before you posted? Of course Saban won't be at Alabama in 10 years. He's in his mid 60s now.
Yes, I did. And it was almost as dumb as what you posted. By the way. How old was Joe Paterno when he left? Let me help you. He was 85 when he was fired from Penn State.
By the way....do you know how many FBS schools there are? (120+) Now answer this. How many coaches have been at their current school for 10 years? Answer: 9. That's right. 9 coaches have been at their current school for 10 years. Do you see how ignorant your prediction about Smart's longevity was?

Kirby is on his early 40s - and has exactly ZERO wins as a head coach at any level.
And remember....you are the one claiming he can't have the on field success as Nick Saban.
Wow. You really went out on the limb for thta one, didn't you?

It takes a hell of a lot more than coaching for a great coach to be a great head coach. It takes personal skills that are beyond that of a mere mortal man - it takes SUPERMAN to become a great coach.
Are you serious? Really? You can't be serious.

Says the fan of a team that is a complete dumpster fire and won't fire their coach. Auburn is reaching for lows UGA hasn't plumbed in quite awhile. I MIGHT see 7 wins for Auburn this year, IF everything falls right.
Your coach can't adjust to personel, you took a downgrad at DC, you don't have a QB or even a young promising one.....talk about lowered expectations!

I would love to hate on Kirby considering he doesn't have any HC experience, but he's walking into a perfect situation. A program that has been solid for a while under a solid HC. I, like you, wonder what happens when he has a team full of his own recruits. He could win the East this year, expectations will then go through the roof, then what?

So you basically make a statement of fact.....and then go on to say what you "think" may or may not happen and basically nobody will know until later. Why didn't you just come out and say none of us will know whether or not Kirby will be a good coach until he actually coaches a few seasons? He's no different than any other coordinator that is becoming a 1st time coach. Only time will tell. Not that hard.

I don't understand this type of attack. Recruiting is part of the job yet somehow recruiting well makes you a mediocre coach?

Now there's a sensible post.
