Did Kirby take the REC with him to Georgia? Seems legit, hope we do this too.

https://deadspin.com/kirbys-law-will-make-it-harder-to-report-on-georgia-a-1770500372

quote:

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed into law yesterday legislation that will give state university athletic departments an unprecedented right to delay responding to open records requests. This is good news for that state’s biggest programs—new UGA football coach Kirby Smart personally lobbied lawmakers—and bad news for transparency.

As taxpayer-funded institutions, Georgia’s public colleges (including UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Georgia Southern) previously had three days to acknowledge requests made under the Freedom of Information Act. Not three days to turn over what reporters were looking for—three days merely to say “we got your request, we’re reviewing it.” Now, thanks to this new law, university athletic programs don’t have to even acknowledge requests for 90 business days, and can commence the usual obfuscation after that.

No other institution in the country, be it an athletic program or the federal government, allows a delay nearly as long as Georgia now does.

quote:

Other SEC states give athletic programs between three and 15 days to respond to FOIA requests. (The exceptions are Florida and Alabama, which require athletic departments to respond in a “reasonable” amount of time.)

quote:

Georgia’s lieutenant governor said of the new law, “I hope it brings us a national championship.”

Doesn't matter what UF's policy is on this.

If the UF media gets even a sniff of an athlete being in trouble on any of our teams, they will blast it all over the place.

UF media is one ruthless bunch, and they will blast stories even without confirmation.

Good- it's an abuse of intent of the open records law to deem that a 20 year old getting arrested for underage drinking is critical info that must be shared for the good of society. By the time this 90-day window hits its old news

It's the state of Goeriga, not just UGA and Kirby didn't lobby for this at all. He, along with other head coaches and ADs from around the state, were summoned by state congress to give testimony about the legislation. The media runs with it and calls it Kirby's Law, when it has been talked about longer before he was named head coach. Nice spin though CockinmyButt.

shite now if I want to tune into 680 the fan during lunch I will have to listen to Buck Belue fapping to the "Kirby Law".

It's become unbeable. I swear I don't know how Kirbs will have any energy for the season after his daily Belue felatio sessions.

KS must be expecting alot stuff to happen he needs time to cover up. You can tell whose coaching tree he fell out of.

The bad part is the lieutenant governor thinks it takes that to bring them a Championship.

Holy shite. Manipulating state law to enable your football team to hide violations for an entire season?

What a bunch of fricking losers.
