He said he was frustrated and didn't understand how a game between the top 2 teams in a "Power 5" basketball conference didn't feature at least 1 ranked team.

Please note, he wasn't complaining about USC's lack of ranking. He was talking about the league as a whole.

Agree, disagree?

In my unbiased opinion, I think the league is pretty bad this year and the rankings reflect that. The middle of the conference is indistinguishable. LSU still had 8 losses going into the game last night and we only have a few quality wins. We should probably be ranked but LSU at 8 losses had no business being ranked going into our game last night.

100 years of horrible basketball (minus UK) leaves a stain. However, you guys should be ranked. A freaking mid-major with SCU's record would prob be ranked.

The SEC ranks 4th out of the P5 conferences in basketball imo. I considered it a downgrade when Mizzou joined the SEC in terms of college basketball. I honestly considered Arkansas, Kentucky, and Florida the only real threats but you know, we hired Kim Anderson, the worst head coach in D-1 ball.

Aside from the league being overall down this year, the SEC is just BAD. The refs are god awful. Absolutely terrible. The style of play, outside kentucky, is so ugly.

But for this year in particular, you have both Arkansas and Mizzou WAY down from our standards, and we should be in the Top 5 of the conference every season. Kentucky is down by their freshman standards. All of that is a recipe to not get respect.

SEC basketball needs to learn some damn finesse. Right now it is football players trying to play basketball.

Tell Frank to schedule better OOC competition so the conference as a whole can get recognized. Needs to stop his bitching.

I'm not sure I completely agree about the lack of Top25 rankings however I certainly agree with Martin that the SEC has a depth of quality teams this year even if they may be lacking in terms of a few truly elite ones.

The thing though is that the SEC needs to keep winning and showing well in bigger OOC games over a few years span to garner more respect.

Right or wrong, people around the country form opinions about conference strength over results from multiple seasons.

It's a start though that the league has certainly increased attention in the number of high profile coaches hired the past couple of years.

I think it is underated. Not saying lsu should be ranked of course but look at what tamu, bama and UK has done ooc. We aren't great we have 2 god awful teams and a pretty bad team. (Mizzou,au,msu). But the top 6/7 teams aren't bad imo.

He's right to an extent. I think there are so many pre-conceived notions about different conferences, and it's bullshite. Besides Auburn and Mizzou, there is nowhere in the SEC that is a gimme on the road. That doesn't mean every team is average, it means there is a lot of parody and quality teams. Every year the SEC has multiple teams make the Sweet 16, so why does it still get hated on?

The media overhypes conferences like the Big 12. So they can have teams that have 6 losses but still be top 25 because they lost to other "quality" opponents.

IF LSU doesn't lose a bunch of crap games early and if USC didn't have the softest schedule ever they would both be ranked. Its not anti SEC bias. It is just how it played out.

Another issue is that the team with the most "marquee" wins (aka Top 25) is Alabama, who has been so Jeckyl and Hyde that they've squandered what is a pretty good record against top competition (4-2 vs Top 25) by going 10-8 against everyone else.

Of the top teams, A&M and Kentucky have winning records against ranked opponents (3-1 and 2-1, respectively) but A&M has been on a slide. South Carolina only has 1 ranked game (and won), but that's a tiny sliver of their overall schedule, comparatively.
