So it's easier to override a presidential veto than it is to add a team to the SEC.
Yep. This is also known as the "Texas can kiss my arse" rule.

The OU President Boren is pissed. Just last night he made his demands clear in interview. Go to 12 teams, convert LHN into b12 network, and have b12 championship game. He said all 3 must happen right away, and then hinted that OU will be gone otherwise.
The horses have left the barn, Gramps.
OU's lack of spine helped destroy the league and enable the runaway ego that is Texas.

Where exactly would OU go? Oklahoma doesn't have enough TV market to make them a worthy expansion target.

"SEC Country" already stretches from El Paso to Key West, and borders Nebraska, Ohio and North Carolina.
The whole "regionalism" stuff is shot to hell already.

Don't really care that much but...current configuration should be Auburn East Mizzou West.

B1G. Their academics don't quite fit in, but after Nebraska was dropped from AAU in 2011 I'm not sure that's as important. (Talking out my butt here. I really have no idea what the B1G is looking for.) Oklahoma is a hell of a lot better school than Oklahoma State, but there's the rub. T. Boone probably has to die before those two schools can part ways.

Agree, mostly. But then Oklahoma is over twice as large as Nebraska.

Given contraction of the current cable business model, it might be wise for a conference to focus on content rather than markets. If the cord-cutting continues and only real sports fans are buying the product online or a-la-carte, then you need the big draws to earn the dollars.
OU, Clemson, FSU, and UTexsa provide that desirable content.

Oklahoma for revenue-generating football
Duke for revenue-generating basketball and an academic feather in the cap.

Meh, B1G academics are overstated. Their second-best school, Michigan, can't really hold Vandy's jock. As I mentioned, add Duke as a second target and there you go.
ETA: Forgot the wallflowers.

Northwestern?

I forgot Northwestern was even IN the B1G, honestly.
ETA: Northwestern is three spots above Vandy in the latest US News. Thanks for pointing that one out for me, Mont.
That said, after NW and Michigan, the rest of the conference isn't significantly better than the majority of the SEC. The point still stands.
As I said. Add Duke as the second target and that whole entire argument flies out the window.

If Auburn and Alabama both moved to the East, wouldn't that effectively end the need for permanent cross division rivals.
We have so many teams, the perm crossover really restricts the other teams you get to play.

He also said that OU will not be a wallflower in realignment, then was rejected by every conference.

Texas is a dumpster fire in football, mens basketball, and baseball

It really would. Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee would be in the same division, ending that argument forever.

Do you think that this will start another domino effect or that it will just be a Big XII move (if they move at all)?
Are the supposed iron clad contractual agreements signed by a lot of conferences and schools post-2011 enough to stop more shifts?
The Big12 won't expand. The current targets don't increase the tv revenue enough to justify it. If they do anything they stop backloading their schedule and then schedule a CCG. Then from 2024-2026 when the Big12 and ACC GORs and the CFB playoffs contract expire there will another round of conference expansion that yields 4 super conferences or the playoffs expand to 8 teams or both. In any expansion situation the SEC needs to get a North Carolina and Virginia school and spit into pods with the 2 best teams playing in ATL for the SECCG or stay put at 14.

ACC has Duke, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and UNC. Thats 6 AAU

I really would support this.
It is crazy how long we have to wait to play certain East schools now.

I don't disagree, but before NU was dropped EVERY B1G school was an AAU member, and so are new members Rutgers and Maryland.
I really don't understand the draw of AAU-membership since it is based mostly on research - how much research do you need to turn out quality lawyers and school teachers, for example? But it is undeniably important in academic dick-measuring contests. It's one of the reasons you fools accepted A&M!
