Would Bear Bryant currently experience the same level of success that Saban has had (or more) at Alabama, when considering how challenging the game of college football has become for head coaches in the modern era?

Doesn't matter if it's a yes or no. These types of hypotheticals bring about the worst arguments.

Each is/was great in their era. All that needs to be said.

Who do you think would win in a head to head matchup with equal teams an one week to prepare?

There's arguments to be made on both sides.

Scholarships, media attention, the difference in the game etc.

But I lean Bryant. Here's why.

If Bryant had coached under the BCS system or the Playoff system, his chances to win the National Championship would have been astronomical.

He would have played for the Championship at Kentucky. Perhaps at Texas A&M when they won the SWC Title. At Alabama, he would have been in the Playoffs in 61, 62, 64, 65, 66, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78 and 79.

That's 15 playoff appearances. In my opinion, he would have at least 10 NC's

Saban didn't have Robert Neyland to "Teach him everything he knows" like Bear did.

My favorite Ole Miss delusion. Never have so many been so arrogant about so little - the definition of Ole Miss.

I think Saban has done more considering a tougher, more competitive environment than Bear (peace be upon him)

I agree on the national titles. But then I go back and look at SEC championships and Coach Bryant is back on top.

Neither could win back to back undisputed sec and national titles. When les miles does win undisputed sec and national titles back to back he will be better than both.
