If Auburn finishes 7-6, would that make them mediocre?

As opposed to just "bad" according to the rant? Pretty much every team we have played this year is in a Bowl game right now (only 2 teams on our schedule are not). The year was an obvious disappointment, but we got better during the year. I wouldn't call us terrible though. I would rate us a 5 out of 10 right now. And a 6 out of 10 if we beat Memphis. We lost 4 big games this year by less than 8 points each. A couple of catches instead of drops (there were countless) could have won at least one or two more games along the way.

This Auburn team is pretty mediocre...but agree they are not quite as bad as the record reflects and were very competitive in their losses.....

Preseason top 10... so yes. Very disappointing year for the Aubs. Gus needs a bowl win to get a little momentum going in to spring practice.

This is the worst moral victory ever. You've really outdone yourself this time

The counter to that question is that if you lose, does that make you really bad?
Losing to Memphis would mean that Auburn only beat two FBS teams with winning records.

At the end of the day, who cares how you or anyone labels this season? Call it whatever the hell you want.... it's still a huge disappointment.
We might win... and that might be something to build on, I don't know. Regardless of the outcome, it will be time to move on to 2016.

You can claim to be the only team to play 2 national champs in the same year. So you got that going for ya.

going by some of the posts on this board....it is impossible for Auburn to ever be considered mediocre because Cam once played for them.

With your OOC schedule? No.

It would make them a pretty damn good Auburn team.

AU lost 6 games:
LSU by 24 pts
MSU by 8 pts
ARK by 8 pts
OM by 8 pts
UGA by 7 pts
UA by 16 pts
AU only lost one game (UGA) by less than 8 pts. Your offense AND defense finished the regular season ranked in the 90's. You finished dead last in the division. Mediocre?

I think Auburn is a decent QB away from being a good team.
As the OP stated, with the exception of the LSU game, Auburn was at least competitive in every other game. Lots of close losses.
The defense actually saw very little change from 2014 to 2015 in terms of yards and scoring.
However, considering this year's defense had an offense rated #95... and last year's defense had an offense that was #17 to complement them, I'd say Auburn's defense was probably "better" this season despite it not showing in the statistics. Had Auburn had a Top 20 offense this season like last season, my guess is the improvement on defense would have been more evident in the rankings.
Unless some folks declare early for the draft unexpectedly, it appears Auburn will have a good bit of their defense back next season. If they can continue to improve despite a change at DC, I think Auburn could have an "average" defense which would be a great improvement from the past 3-4 years.
So it appears next season will boil down to the QB position. If Auburn's offense can improve from #95 up to even Top 40, I think Auburn could see improvement up to an 8-4 or 9-3 type of season.
In order for Auburn to compete for championships with the coaching staff though, they need a Top 20 offense.

Win Lose or Tie..... You will still be a team with a fanbase that celebrates with toilet paper and calls it tradition.
You will still be Auburn
You will still be Auburn
