Actually, if you're going to be historically accurate, the last time a situation even remotely similar happened was after the 2003 season:

I have been a Sumlin supporter/apologist since day 1 and leading up to this year. This season eroded the majority of the capital that he had.
He has ONE (and I mean fricking UNO) chance to right this ship. Whiff on any aspect of the offense this year, and that's it.
In this conference, we don't have time to play patty cake. He was the right helmsman for our transition to this new era of Aggie football--I'll always stand by that. But if he ain't the man for us in the conference long term, we can't afford NOT to cut bait.

You're generous. I'm in the "burn everything down, let's start over with Tom Herman" boat.

Everything Tbird said +1. I wasn't melting on the whole spav situation as I firmly believe it will be felt with but this is just a terrible sign of where the program is. All aboard the Melt Train!

What elite talent transferred leaving us destitute at the most important position in the game last year?
Malik not committing didn't even give me gas. I'm pretty sure I had a small stroke 3 hours ago.

Kyle isn't elite talent. He's good, nowhere close to elite.

kyle is an absolute first round QB

So was Christian Ponder.
And Jake Locker.
And Jake Locker.

He's elite. We underutilized him to a level that is criminal considering how far we set him back.

and kyle allen is way better than both of those

not to mention threw him under the fricking bus with his shoulder

I agree 100% that Spavital’s incompetence hurt Kyle.

I harped on this more than anyone else, and people said it was no big deal.

Wish I had seen that. I was done with Sumlin after Ole Miss.

Absolute? I think he's got potential.

That's what most people are drafted on.

Im probably giving myself way too much credit. I really hated how he handled the Kyler Murray suspension, but the lying about Kyle's injury (or covering for him or whatever the hell happened) rubbed me wrong. None of it made sense then, and today doesn't help.
Just very poor leadership from Sumlin. Still time to right the ship, but the iceberg is in sight.
