I was not aware of that. That makes it not quite so bad. But they still are able to recruit blue chip players where the public schools aren't.
Hell, alabamas last 2 qb's came from that school.

Germantown still won't play us (MUS), along with the majority of the rest of the public schools in the city. The only public schools that will play MUS are the black schools because we pay them to and they need the money. MUS plays 3 out of state games every year now just to fill a schedule.

I had to play against St. Paul's(private school he is talking about) week 1 this season. We lost 48-10. They had our two best players from middle school on scholarship. They pretty much poached our best players from us.

Played them in baseball my senior year. Easily the most talented team we played and we played teams from all over the country. McCarron was one of their worst players just to give you an example. They had some kid with the last name Hood who was amazing.

LOL the default excuse for everything. I've seen people claim that private schools win the cross-country championship because "they can get students from anywhere and give scholarships."
In many (not all) public schools half the students don't give a shite about anything nor do their parents, nor do their union-protected faculty and coaches. It is sad that to get your kid educated today, you have to pay for everyone else with taxes, then pay out of pocket as well.
Maybe if so many public school didn't suck and weren't dangerous, and weren't laughable, people could use the schools they have already paid for.
Well, allow open enrollment... see what happens instead of bitching.

It's long been an issue here with private Catholic schools. You also have a decent amount of inequity among public schools here where you can apply for a magnet program at that school if you don't live in its district. KHSAA has changed some things to try and improve the situation but it still happens.

It's funny because that was exactly the sport I was referring too. XC has seen a major swing the past few years from public to private.
The public schools here are not 'dangerous' nor is the education behind what some of these private schools are offering.

I went to a public school and we had a few kids every class who moved from out of county to play football based on various incentives provided by the booster club.
a few even lived with boosters. think Michael ohr type stuff. This is more common amongst public schools than most think

I'm opposed to the big recruiting schools, but most just have a few players they grab from the community.
In Baton Rouge, Parkview Babtist does their recruiting by offering development program for kids. These kids get exposed to their school and often end up going. My school competes with them, but I can't say a single bad thing about them.
John Curtis, on the other hand, recruits.

Same thing in 7A. Watched McGill Toolen, the local Catholic high school in Mobile, win the championship for the first time in their 120+ year history. Meanwhile Murphy high school, the largest public school in Mobile hasn't won one in 30 years. It is ridiculous

No. In MS the private schools have their own divisions for most sports. They'll occasionally compete against public schools in soccer and track.

Yeah, ex-Mrs Kaptin teaches at Spain Park and our kids go to school in the system with plans to go there as well and we were hoping for their first state championship as well. tough game too. 14-12
They beat cross town Hoover twice in one year too. That was pretty awesome. I had a good laugh over that one.

In Ar, private schools are classified in a higher classification than their enrollments would dictate.
A lot of the anti-Gust sentiment in NWA are from parents whose kids' teams were beaten by Malzahan's Shiloh Christian by 50+ when their small towns were in the same conference.
