I read on another site that he wanted and got that written into the contract.

I doubt it. There is no contract yet, for one thing. Can't be til after the SECCG

The real question is why on God's green earth would UGA do that? Bama's coach is 64 years old. If Smart does great they'll come calling. If he sux they won't and we'll wish they would. No way UGA would've done that. There were other prospects as promising as Kirby out there.

I doubt he would ask for that. I doubt UGA would grant it. And I don't know why it would be needed. If the job comes up and he wants to pursue it, he will anyway.

Pretty simple if true - leverage and perhaps the top job in the country, most certainly the best job in the Deep South. Always, always, always negotiate future leverage into a contract. AD treats you like dirt, then threaten to leave and be able to back it up.

Deal breaker for me if so. Cant blame him for asking but the answer is a hard no, again if it is true and it were up to me....

Whoever said that nonsense is a retard and pulled it out of their arse.
If you're going to bring rumor mill junk to the boards, tell us who the source is so we can figure out if there's any credibility behind it.

This probably came from an Alabama fan.

The better question is why were you allowed back on our board?

We've been down this road before with Tubby Smith and the Kentucky job. Didn't work out so well for Ga then.

Many coaches get clauses like that. Holtz had one for Notre Dame. Tubby Smith had one for Kentucky. If Georgia is the "dream job" for Smart then he shouldn't ask for an out. If he does, then maybe McGarity is going wrong with this hire.

Leverage in case the powers that be meddle too much....

Yeah I don't see any way this is true. Although if there was an AD dumb enough to allow this, it would be our's.

It's not like Alabama wouldn't big dick us if they want him. They have a whole different set of P&L rules there. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If they come and get him, it means we will be loaded with talent and winning.

You and I both know that poster is guessing/shooting the moon so to speak. That may not be an issue at all.

Maybe Smart is just Smart. Bama fans expect championships and provide the support to get them. They don't sit on the south side of Sanford dreaming of new year's in Tampa.
The Sec has been Bama's bitch for 2/3rds of the past 60 years.
