For some friendly discussion. What are some horrible targeting calls that your team has had this year ?

I can see how the flag would fly on a hard hit. But to also miss the review is ridiculous.

For tennessee,in the Kentucky game the call where mosley was ejected. Receiver took 3 steps and the tn dB turned his body and lead with the shoulder to the receivers chest. There was no contact to the head or neck.

I know we aren't the only team to suffer one of these calls.

Another question is should the refs be held accountable for these , since the player loses playing time ?

I think the ones that anger most fans are the ones where the bulk of the contact is body to body and the helmet contact is incidental. I guess you could make the type of helmet contact as either flagrant or incidental on review. But I think that's unlikely to happen in the current environment.

Ricky Seals Jones during the state game. Even the announcers knew how retarded that call was

I know we can complain about it but until the schools put pressure on the ncaa, nothing will be done.

I wish some of the kid influential AD's would start pressuring the NCAA to change the rule.

It's a damn stupid rule.

If that's a targeting call, it's probably because the refs are pussies.

The Florida targeting was also bullshite. The man lead with his hands and used the force from his body through his hands to push the guy. The collision looked hard because of the change of direction. Still can't believe some of my friends want that to be illegal.

Now this is targeting. Leading with crown of helmet into head/neck area on to an unassuming tackler.

Well not just them. The entire rule has taken away from the aggressive nature of the game. Yes, hitting late and hitting out of bounds is justified. But hitting with pads under the chin is not like helmet hits. But another thorn in my side is the way they escort the player off the field. You would think the player was a convict being arrested. With all this talk by the NCAA about protecting the athlete, what is the difference between a recruit jilting a university by stringing them along and not signing and showing one walking off the field with his head down and embarrassed by what he did?

Any hard hit is flagged as a PF or targeting these days

Meh. Seen worse calls. Aim lower. We can all sit around and whine about how "this ain't football" but there are plenty of rules in place to protect players from injury, this one is just newer and people don't like change.

Did the Tennessee player take his head off? Not really. Did he aim high so he could blow him up even though he knew that can get you a penalty? You bet he did.

Targeting just seems to have gotten called so much lately.

Ricky Seals Jones during the A&M vs State game.

OFFENSIVE targeting!

RSJ hit the defender in the shoulder and the contact happened to carry though to the other player's helmet tangentially. Clearly no intent to "head hunt" the other guy with a helmet to helmet hit, just a good block. Ejected.

There are other bad targeting calls I've seen with other teams around the league but can't remember specifically. It's out of control.
