No crap talk here, just curious about this. Plenty of days to talk smack later.
I love to travel & have taken this train the opposite way a couple times.
The train leaves early from Nola & reaches Ttown around 11 on Saturday morning. That's game day & all is good. Party on. But what in the world do you guys do for sleep? At the station? That makes sense; or find a coed, might work just fine. I know Ttown has 2 night reserves & the return train doesn't leave Ttown for Nola until around 2-2:30 on Sunday afternoon. How do you kill time, & do any LSU sponsors cater food, blankets, mouthwash, or anything at the station. ? Just curious.
From Bama way, it's easier to go to Nola on Amtrek, party all night, cause the trip back is at 7am, it's like a "red eye" flight just $30 each way. Given that timeline & Nola being exponentially full of more things to get into than Ttown early on a Sunday. Anyhow, my sick little boy has me awake & curious.

I'd imagine you'd still want to get a hotel room. will just save you from having to drive. it is an 6.25 hour trip according to google.
ETA: Changed length of trip because apparently IDNRC

T-Town to Nola (or vice-versa) seems like it would be a fun little train ride, if you enjoy train rides.
ETA for clarification: Long enough to get the experience of riding a train, not so long that it gets fricking tiresome.

Does it cross the same spot where that bad accident with tug boat occurred? If so no way

Good question. All the times I've visited Louisiana, I've driven.

ETA: I don't think so. According to the wiki page, the accident in '93 happened between Mobile and Nola and was due to a barge colliding with the bridge and displacing it slightly.

I'm getting a RV with my bud and we're going up Friday.

My friend and a large group used to take Amtrak to Tuscaloosa for the game. They would leave on Friday morning and return to Nola on Sunday. They booked a large passenger van and hotel rooms 6 months in advance.

Couldn't answer those questions, we are flying in around 9 and leaving right after the game.

Yup. It was very foggy and the captain turned off into some bayou thinking he was still on the main river when the accident happened.
There's a pretty good forensic files on that incident.
