So you think you can go 4 on 5 against our O-Line and John David Moore and hold Fournette under 200+?

agreed.....but btw, LSU's DL ain't no slouch....at all. and our MLB is a beast.....should be a great game....it's a damn shame that these two teams share the same conference....far to often they are two of the best in the nation...and this year is another example. You guys have had our number lately, although LSU has typically played well. Here's to another slugfest.

This is what scares me the most. Although I think you'll need the whole front 7 to slow down/stop LF, you won't have to bring 8 or 9 in the box like many other teams do.

Why do we care what they think?
LF & LSU have the opportunity to seal the deal in a few weeks.

We will see. I don't think this happens...I think you are underestimating our OL and LF....he just needs a crease that's his greatest improvement...his vision and burst to the hole...and well, his ability to make the lbs miss at the second level.
Honestly, you better hope this is the case...and if you can accomplish this...you stand a good chance to win. If you can't, I do think BH will hurt you.

I believe Peterson ran about a 4.45 and that was super fast for a RB that size. Im not sure LF is quite that fast or at least he doesn't look as fast. Anything in the 4.5 range for a RB of LFs size is spectacular.

All I was doing was replying to a post about his 40 time. The NFL combine is the best indicator.
Reread my post and accept the LF compliment.

IDK man...because this is a message board?

Unless you think all the db's he has played have been slower than 4.5. When he breaks away...unless they have an angle, they don't make up ground on him....and in many cases, he pulls away. He isn't 4.2....but he isn't 4.5 either....and at that size....
Running the 40 is very different than breaking a long run on the actual football field. I don't know why people get so caught up in the damn 40. Much like the bench press, it really has very little to do with how good someone is on the field.
The 40 is so much about timing and technique, one slight hiccup can be the difference between a 4.4 and a 4.5. Never is a running back going to have to run 0-40 yards in a 3 point stance during a game. Fournette is damn fast for his size, but whether he runs a 4.5 or a 4.4 doesn't really matter.

Nobody said that. Alabama isn't dropping 7 into coverage. The point being made is that Alabama may be better equipped than most to play LSU straight up in the run game. That means 3 to 4 dlinemen with 4 to 3 LBs playing the gaps. That means not having to commit safeties which exposes the pass defense.
I doesn't mean play 4 against 5 or 6 in the run game.

and that's why he is spectacular....there was a reason he was returning kickoffs last year as a TF...and it wasn't because he ran a 4.6 or due to some agreement with Les (well, maybe a little on this one..lol)

Why are LSU fans so damn insecure? Did Nicky leaving screw ya'll up that bad?
ALL of my friends are Bama fans and they ALL, without exception think LF is the best player in the country by a long damn shot.

agreed. My point is that no one catches him straight up...or even gains on him generally. I doubt he even does much at the combine....

I mean, I'm not attacking you. Look at what the comment above yours is. All Day ran a 4.45. Fournette's probably not going to touch that. It doesn't matter.
It's rare for an RB to put up those kinds of numbers.
The player at any level of football that has the speed to overtake LF7 and the strength to tackle him is rare also.

It has been reported LF ran a 4.35 in high school. It's a safe assumption to add AT LEAST 1/10th of a second to that, and as much as 2/10th's.
He will run 4.5 to 4.55 IMO.

speed wise? There was a thread on your board where many posters were saying that he is probably in the 4.5 range
Why don't you quote some of the posts you read that you found objectionable?

He's fast! Has an incredible 1st step and can accelerate.
Watching LF run is something special. Hits the hole wide open and always has his shoulders squared. Has great lower body control, incredible balance and will not get caught from behind once in the open field.
The key to slowing him down is to not allow him to get his momentum going forward and his shoulders getting squared to the los. Easier said than done!

I think Bama can afford to be much more judicious on when to commit extra players to the box compared to most teams. That's what I think. And, I'm under no delusion that LF isn't going to get his yards.
