Was the first iteration of the Wildcat (McFadden/Jones) the best?

I'm talking only the versions with a RB or any non-QB taking the snap.
I think so, but I know I'm biased and want to see what others think.

Actually David Lee drew it up.

It was OK, but not quite as good as Chase Daniel handing the ball to Tony Temple for 20 yards a pop.

That picture is staged

Bumping to make sure everyone knows David Lee is responsible for the wildcat.

Didn't they call it something different besides the "wildcat". Like the wildpig or something?

It was the wildcat in 2006, then renamed wildhog in 2007 I believe.

1. it wasn't the first, wasn't it a throwback formation?
2. it was the best I think in college Miami's was obviously "better" but its not really fair to compare college and NFL teams.

True, but David Lee introduced it to the modern game.

I thought Cadillac and Ronnie Brown ran it at Auburn in 2004?

Nope. Ronnie Brown did run it with the Dolphins though.

Darren McFadden was merely the first Gus Malzahn system RB, nothing more. Ho hum.
Gus Malzahn 1,000-yard rushers as OC or HC
2006: Darren McFadden, Felix Jones
2007: Tarrion Adams
2008: Tarrion Adams
2009: Ben Tate
2010: Cam Newton, Michael Dyer
2011: Michael Dyer
2012: David Oku
2013: Tre Mason, Nick Marshall
2014: Cameron Artis-Payne

Never heard of the guy.
So he was a WR/RB for Bama who also threw 30 passes during the '93 season. He also averaged 16 yards per punt return in '93. Looking at his highlights ( LINK) I see him taking snaps from under center, not in shotgun with fly sweep.

Palmer subbed in at QB for jay barker when he got hurt iirc. I believe it happened for the LSU game and bama beat us with their freaking WR at QB.
