For the first time in a while, there are some serious expectations for Tennessee football. Last week, ESPN’s Jesse Palmer predicted that the Vols would win the SEC East while on Finebaum. He’s not alone in that prediction, among the network’s College Football analysts. Kirk Herbstreit also think this is the year that Tennessee makes it to Atlanta.

That's three times this week he's picked them. He must really believe in the Vol Nayy.

And still somehow go 9-3 and thus remain irrelevant.

But why are they not picking the national title competing program of Missouri?????
In all seriousness, TN should be getting the hype. They have talent on the roster. It just needs to get developed.

To be fair, winning the East is a step above employee of the month at DairyQueen. Even Mizzou was able to win it twice.
Poor Zou. You're the Rodney Dangerfield of the SEC.
I keed, I keed.

There's an outside chance it could happen.

I can support this if y'all can start beating Bama on the regular.

Last year Herbstreit predicted Florida State, Alabama, UCLA, and Michigan State to make the playoffs. And picked Georgia to win the East.

Yesterday I watched some of the Tennessee games from last year. Unless the O-line improves significantly I don't see it happening. I was surprised with how good Worley was since all I had heard was how awful he was.
He got destroyed in the Oklahoma game because the O-line was nonexistent. He played great in the Georgia game, hit a lot of big passes at the end to give them a chance to tie.
Dobbs is clearly more mobile but his success against South Carolina was magnified by USC's piss-poor tackling techniques. They couldn't tackle anyone 1-on-1. Receivers, running backs, anyone in the open field.
I think Tennessee improves but I also expect Florida to improve also. I expect Florida to be improved but they still have a long way to go. I give the edge to UT in that game. But i still think UGA and Mizzou are a step ahead of UT. And (i doubt it happens but...) if SCar improves their defense they will have the edge too.
I see losses to UGA and Mizzou. And lose at least one to OU or Arkansas. Possibly one more to Florida or USCe.

7-6. Jones finishes his career at UT with a .500 record.

Congrats on your program rising to the South Carolina in 2010 level.

Since 2008 Tennessee is 2-33 (6.06%) against teams that finished the seasoned ranked, both wins were against South Carolina.
