Deuce McAllister or Shaun Alexander: who was better in college?

I am admittedly very biased and many Alabama fans may disagree, but I believe Deuce was the best RB of the late 90s era. His combination of speed and size with his versatility as a punt returner, kickoff specialist, and receiver made him an All-American. The offensive line blocking for him was nowhere near as talented as Bama's. Both had solid NFL careers, but this conversation is strictly for their college career.
What does the rest of tRant say?
Deuce vs. Arkansas 1999 opening kickoff for TD
Deuce vs. Bama 1999

Both good, but Shaun by a good margin. Best RB ever at Bama.

Alexander's college statistics
McAllister's college statistics
Very similar statistical careers.
Alexander had 4,453 all-purpose yards and 50 total TDs.
McAllister had 5,180 all-purpose yards and 44 TDs.
Kevin Faulk (for some random LSU poster) had 6,680 all-purpose yards and 54 total TDs.

Alexander. Not even close.

Both very good, but I would take Duece. He was surrounded by inferior talent than was Alexander. Most fans can't tell the difference between great blocking and great running. Alexander had both. Deuce had to earn his yards. He had elite power and elite speed. He was the best back in Saints history.

Both were very good and two of my favorites growing up but I would take McAllister by a hair. He was the prototypical big back that would run you over and then outrun the next guy. Alexander was more vision and less brute athleticism. The difference is marginal and they are two of the best SEC running backs all time.

Between the 2 players posted, I gotta go with Deuce. If they swapped teams, it would be unanimous. Also Deuce was more versatile because he lined up at wr and was one of the best returners in college football at the time.

Alexander scared the crap out of me. He had a great stiff arm with those gorilla arms of his. I was glad to see him go.
Deuce, not so much.

Shaun was prob the best college running back that I've seen play the game.

To be honest, I was never all that impressed with Shaun Alexander and I considered him overrated. Admittedly, he was probably better then I realized.
Deuce was very good, but I don't remember being wowed by him. If I had to pick a SEC RB from the nineties, I'd probably go with Jamal Lewis.

Going exactly how I figured it would go. OM fans with Deuce and Bama with Shaun. I'd go with Shaun Alexander however.
