Not sure if this has been mentioned in any other long threads, but Patterson has forced the shag to drop Bevo from its name.

Wow.
I know that we enjoy the schadenfreude of all this, but even Bill Byrne wasn't that petty.

Ahahahahaha. Patterson trolling the shite outta the sip online fanbase. Glorious.

When will the tsips realize that that school doesn't give two shites about their fan base. The only people they care about are the ones that give them millions of dollars in donations.

UT hates their own fan base so goddamn much

What is awesome is that it's the University doing it not the AD, so Patterson is officially acting like a mob boss and using back channels to squash opposition. Texas fans are learning what Texas fans are like. That is the problem with a "Michigan Man" so to speak.

From the site owner:
quote:
The trademarks are owned by the athletic department, not the university. I offered to pay to use it and they said that was a non starter. So it was ultimately Mack Brown/Dodds/Patterson/Plonsky who decided shaggy had to change. The name change did start at the height of the $#@! mack brown era. Notice how "Bevo Beat" is still the name of the statesman blog at LINK ? It's not an accident they went after shaggy.

This isn't much different in principle from what happens on Texags. Just yesterday they deleted a bunch of pictures of the interior of the stadium because the AD told them to. They censor a lot of words and whack threads criticizing players and especially coaches with the swiftness.
The difference is that Texags does this to preserve incredible inside access which makes for uniquely good content. Shaggy is just a it version of tRant and Patterson bitch slapped them.

Unfortunately it would have cost $100k+ to defend.
I'm shocked that one of their 1,000's of big cigar members hasn't offered to pay the legal fees with the change in the cracks of his couch
Shocked I tell ya

Oh, and general A did catch a ban this morning but it's not permanent.....yet
I don't see how an admin could reason that that account should exist.

Controlling the message is the only thing the teasips have ever been good at

Holy shaggy cow! They have a 921 page realignment thread that's full of every possible made up fairy tale delusional sip dream......

TexAgs is too close to the school, IMO.
They do have the access, but they are at the heel of the AD/Admin and often will sit on good info at the request of their benefactors.
It's a delicate balancing act, and they do what is good for them, but they aren't as independent as I'd like them to be.

But then you see what happens with unchecked reporting on 247. Hamm has actively scared off recruits and they regularly jump the gun on bad info. Remember when they were reporting this time last year that a "huge" legal issue with Speedy was about to come out?
Both have their flaws, and Liucci is a MASSIVE douche with no real life skills, but Texags has unquestionably great content. 247 breaks most stories quicker but they are wrong a decent amount of the time.

I'm fine with the trade off for all the amazing content and inside access they get
I don't mind them not rocking the boat. They do get critical at times but just don't let it get out if hand. That's kind if nice in a way as well.
