Petrino vs Bert

Pertrino
2008. 5-7
2009. 8-5
2010. 10-3
2011. 11-2
Bert
2013. 3-9
2014. 7-6.
I keep seeing Arkansas posters talk about how Petrino left the program in shambles? 11-2 with a Cotton Bowl victory is bad?
will Bert make it to 10-3 in his 3rd year?

I know - right?
I mean, for Arky, that oughta be worth a statue outside the stadium...

Players typically don't stay on a team two whole years later

I think Rob Smith is the x-factor between the two. Both run different and successful offensive styles, but Bert hit a grand slam at DC

How many 11 win seasons has Arky had since joining the SEC?
Could you argue that Petrino left Arkansas in the best shape it has ever been?

Did something happen in early 2012 to make you forget about a whole year?

Plus I don't think people realize Bielema was a DC. They always talk about "his" style of offense but he is a defensive guy so he prioritizes it

I'm trying really hard not pick Arkansas in the top 3 in the SECW, but only because the road schedule is death row.
@Bama
@Ole Miss
@Tennessee
@LSU
Yikes. I think Arkansas goes 1-3 in that stretch, probably Bama or Tennessee. Not saying Arkansas doesn't have a respectable shot against LSU, but I love the idea of revenge in Baton Rouge after the infamous 17-0

who exactly did Arkansas lost from the 2011 team that had y'all go from 11-2 to 4-8 a season later? Yeah, Petrino's idiotic behavior caused a rift, but it shouldn't have been as catastrophic as it ended up being. That should not have sent you from back to back top 10 seasons to back to back sub 5 win seasons

They lost their three top receivers. Them and Bequette were the only players lost that were good enough to get drafted.

We still had Tyler Wilson, Cobi Hamilton, Chris Gragg and Knile Davis for 2012 but they also left after that year. The combination of all of the above players leaving within the two years left the offense really bare when Bielema took over with an already bad defense.

We got Petrino at exactly the right time. Mallett was looking to transfer from Michigan and boom - we got Petrino. We also had in state QB Tyler Wilson waiting in the wings.
Joe Adams, Jarius Wright, Greg Childs, Cobi Hamilton, DJ Williams, and Chris Gragg were a ridiculously talented crop of in state receiving threats.
It was going to take Petrino time to tranform the team from Nutt-ball to his system, but it was made much easier with these in state studs that fit Petrino's system perfectly.
Just as it was going to take time for Petrino to change systems, same goes for Bert. Bert's having success, and I expect we'll see 10 or 11 wins this year.
