re: So how good of a coach is Les Miles?

Does Miles have his issues as a Coach? Well sure he does. He can be a bit stubborn in sticking to a game plan that isn't working, sometimes he's too loyal to a player when it is clear that the kid is just having the worst day possible, and he's a bit disorganized which can bite him on the booty at the end of games.
All coaches have their flaws. Saban is famous for planning well but sometimes not adapting well. Malzahn is an offensive genius but has games where he spits the bit and keeps trying the same thing over and over again even if it isn't working. Richt's teams tend to lose focus. Bielema is too willing to hand over the reigns of his offense in games even when the OC is clearly panicking.
Miles is going to go down as one of the greatest LSU coaches to ever eat grass on the sidelines and the Tigers are almost certainly going to find it is a real bear to replace when he finally leaves.

You really should not follow this sport. You seem confused. Maybe something like ice dancing will work. Good work

He is lucky to have taken over what Nick built. He coaches at the easiest place to recruit to and out talents most teams yet still finds a way to lose 5 games. Most LSU fans know this but won't admit it. Watch Bama in a rebuilding year with question marks at quarterback. 5 losses? Not gonna happen.

it's ok, I've already played and coached "this sport" which is more than you'll ever be able to say.

Scoop I respect your posts- but remember if Saban would not have left LSU Bama may not have had any NC's
We will never know but both of us have had the privilege of watching Saban rebuild our teams
But I gotta tell you, it is more fun day to day with Les- you laugh a lot more and more but I would rather be where we are than most of the other SEC teams who brag about their coaches and have no trophies-

Lmbo Chavis is not the best coach that has coached at Lsu. He can't win a game in the 4th and his recruiting is terrible. Y'all have fun with the 1 or 2 "decent" linebackers

Does he not get enough credit?
I've always felt like he was an underrated coach and overrated recruiter.
We're coming upon his tenth year, and the year that rarely gets talked about is his first. I think 2005 was the best coaching job he's ever done. Getting that team together and enabling them to focus after the biggest hurricane this country has ever seen was nothing short of incredible. Many of those football players had family sleeping on the floors of their dorm rooms, and Miles brought that team to Atlanta.

bullshite, I have had diarrhea with more integrity than Richt. Miles is a good guy. No need to look beyond their ring fingers to see where I'm going beyond that. Richt aint won shite! Miles has the damn jewelry son. dont have to like it but it is what it is. Richt the pretender is more politician than football coach.

At the end of the day regardless of the X's and O's his players love him and go all out for him. He's a great guy who people love to be around and I really think he's an amazing motivator who brings out the best in his players. He's also a winner, you can tell that just by his record in the toughest conference during its strongest era. Regardless of how quirky he is and the way he manages his QBs (especially last year), I'll always appreciate him as the head coach of LSU.

Everybody remembers Katrina but they forget about Rita & that was a devastating hurricane as well in just a less populated area but it still had an effect. Rita was also the reason the Tennessee game was played on a Monday night. I totally agree with your post though. To make it to SEC Championship with all the distractions, turmoil & no bye week to rest was simply remarkable. Miles doesn't get enough credit for that season.

You mean the same Nick that went 8-5 in his final season at LSU.

LSU has underachieved. Louisiana produces more NFL talent per-capita than any other state. Also consider they don't compete with other in-state schools for talent, unlike Alabama. They have the best recruiting situation of any school, but don't have the results to show for it.
Les isn't a bad coach, but he isn't great either. I doubt he ever wins another championship. He gets outcoached vs Saban, Meyer, etc.

Winds from Rita were worse in BR than the winds from Katrina, and they came from the southeast, while Katrina was from the northeast.
Basically, all the trees that weren't knocked down by Katrina were taken by Rita a month later.
And we wonder why some people didn't have power for 2 months.

Les is a very good coach, just very stubborn at times. He is under Saban and Urban but very good and under appreciated imo

He's alright when his staff can get him to put away his coloring books long enough

Miles is 3-3 against Meyer

If Bama didn't have Saban,
Les Miles would be considered one of the GOAT. He and Saban have battled it out for wins and recruits. The LSU vs Bama game determined the SEC champ and National Champion for several years. No other SEC or National coach has had that type of run other than Saban.
Sure I have times where I wish he would retire but I like his brand of football, he is from the old school of punching you in the mouth to win type football.
