I doubt many schools will be building completely new stadiums anytime soon, if ever. Being dated doesn't mean teams need new stadiums, just that newer additions will be better equipped and likely look better. Just look at 70s-90s architecture, it's not like it's obsolete, but it isn't famous for it's beauty.
I was just looking at the glass half full when it comes to our opportunity to learn from a lot of great programs and stadiums, and build something to be proud of instead of complaining about our crappy stadium.
We will eventually get a new press box and probably do the same thing to the east. Our stadium has potential to be a top 5 sec stadium in regards to gameday, atmosphere, and aesthetics. Plus the charm of being one of the oldest stadiums doesn't hurt.

It does appear to be some planning going on with the addition.
It appears that the height of the NEZ matches that of the SEZ now that the new luxury boxes have been added and actual lower the top of the seating in the SEZ.
This should allow for construction behind the new seating in the NEZ to match the SEZ outside facade.
Of course I believe the press box on the west gets the next face lift.
Then the luxury boxes on the east side should get the next upgrade before coming back to the NEZ to complete the exterior to match the SEZ. Complete with identical luxury boxes and the exterior to match. This will definitely give us close to what everyone really wants. It may be 10 years in the making, but when completed it will be aesthetically pleasing and be more symmetrical in over all appearance also.
Hopefully within that same time frame, the Tad Pad can be demolished and multi purpose green space can be scaped from the area and the parking lot. They should keep in mind the idea of Gameday returning and having a space to provide the best exposure possible.
It looks like there are plans to green the area across from the stadium for the Walk of Champions, this will make for a nice gathering for Rebels to wish the team well before entering the stadium.
It may take another 10 years, but it will be worth the wait. It's a huge improvement from the bleachers on the east I stood in during the later half of the 80's.

The height doesn't match the South. The corners in the South match the sidelines. That didn't happen with this expansion. As for press box renovations, that happened last year so it will be the same for a while. The next improvement must be the sideline concourses. They are total garbage right now and need work badly. I do agree that both sideline boxes need to match but that is probably 20 years off. We have yet to see any master plan which is what is needed to ensure that all work is designed to a common goal.

The field level club is so damn stupid. I have some friends that used to sit with us in the south zone club who switched to them because they said that they didn't cost as much, but I just don't understand it. Our "premium" seating is already a bargain compared to most of the conference.

I don't get it either. I really don't get the point in cutting out a section of seating when they could just go inside via the ends.

I'm surprised that they are moving so slow with the steel structure. We seem to be bogged down around the halfway point.

It isn't scheduled to be completed until mid-May.

They're months behind schedule.

It's just the steel frame that's to be done by mid-may not the whole thing.

It doesn't look like it will be ready by the first of the season. I think the seating is going to be on concrete and that's a lot of concrete to pour and cure between now and September 10.

Speaking of construction; have they released the renderings for the baseball facility?

The seating is already poured some of it is sitting in trailers by the old Taylor exit.

Maybe y'all know more than me, but I don't see why it wouldn't be ready for the season.
They have 5 months to finish the steel structure and add concrete that has already been poured.

If I had to be concerned about somethjng (which I'm not) it would be that the turf is laid with enough time to take hold by the first game.
The structure will be finished with plenty of time. The weather hasn't exactly cooperated in the last few weeks, hence the slower progress. Nice weather and an impending deadline will have everything completed in ample time.

Can't get my picture to load but more construction has taken place on the opposite side. Looks like it will meet up with the first construction just to the right of the score board. Seems like there nothing to worry about as far as time goes.

When are they installing grass, mid-May?

So just how big of a new video board is planned.
Bjork stated it would encompass the NEZ. That's a monster video board.
The other two boards on either side of the SEZ should help hold some noise in.
It will be nice to have a stadium where crowd noise could be a huge factor.
Now all that is left is for people to get up off their asses and yell for the Rebels.
