Is LSU really transitioning to a 3-4 defense?

I've seen this posted on the LSURb and the SECRb regarding their recruitment of 6'4" 290 pound DE Shavar Manuel.
He appears to be a perfect fit at DT in their current system, but a few LSU posters are saying they are moving to a 3-4 so he would be an End for them.
I haven't seen anything else regarding this schematic change. Is it legit?
ETA: I guess it makes sense with Steele as the DC.

It's Steele's base D, so a lot of people seem to suspect LSU will head in the direction. Personally, I believe if LSU keeps recruiting DBs the way they are they will stay in a base 4-3, but spend most of the time in a Nickel or 4-2-5, just like they have since 2010.

Is LSU transitioning back to losing to Alabama every year?
Oh wait, they already have.

Based on the current coaching staff and the recruits they're going after, it seems an eventual transition is likely, not set in stone, but likely. We'll probably see a good bit of 3-4 packages intermittently throughout the year, and if they go well then we may see a full shift in the next couple years. Linebacker depth is a problem right now for a 3-4, but we seem to be recruiting pass rushing DE/LB hybrids to fill that depth in contrast to Chavis's preferred smaller but quicker LBs.

this. LSU isn't recruiting for strictly a 3-4, or at least that what recruits are saying

Aren't y'all hot and heavy after Keion Joyner though? He fits the description of a Chavis LB.

Have an upvote. I don't want this to spiral into a pissing match.
I honestly want to know if it is happening.

LSU's D is based around speed and he fits the mold of a 4-2-5 LB. I really don't think much with change with the base.

We are, but we also are getting guys like Thorton and Fowler that could play either DE or 3-4 pass rushing LB, depending on where we decide they're needed and what kind of weight training we give them.

Like I said it's not set in stone, it is Steele's defensive style, and we seem to be getting a couple guys that would fit that system well, but would also benefit a 4-3 or 4-2-5. I think Steele runs whatever we're strongest with which is why I see us trying it out a decent amount in 2015 (though it will still be mostly 4-3) and based on how successful we are with it will go from there.

who isn't recruiting a top 10 recruit?

No. We're going more multiple instead of the vanilla Chavis crap. 4-3 under, 3-4, 2-4-5, etc

They're just concerned

Regardless of scheme, LSU's defense will have to pitch shut outs all year if the Tigers are going to win more than 8 games with that offense.

More of hybrid between the 4-3/3-4 scheme.

I think we're just going multiple, really.
