Knee jerk reaction: Let the little girls sell the lemonade and popcorn.
After pondering: Kids are germs with feet. They pose as much of a public health risk as any other vendor.

I think the police did the right thing. These girls were trying to run a business without permits and not charging a sales tax. It's not fair for other businesses like Chick-fil-A that sell lemonade. Their profits are possibly getting cut because of these girls.
I blame the parents.

No matter how hot those girls are they still need to follow the rules

Yes, they went too far. Government overreach strikes again. I can't wait till they meet violent revolution coming over the middle.

Couldn't they just have surrounded them with tanks then burned them all out with flame throwers like they did those pesky Christians in Waco?

"Politicians and bureaucrats crack down on lemonade sales."
The cops are just the ones getting stuck with the shitty job of enforcing others' decisions. And those same politicians will be nowhere around when the public backlash ensues.

That's what people fail to understand about law enforcement. The law itself (requirement of permits/health inspections) is passed by city council. An officer doesn't have discretion as to whether or not the law gets enforced, especially if someone calls dispatch and makes a complaint, even anonymously. Cops find themselves in Internal Affairs for violations of the law or department policies, not for failure to use common sense. As long as he/she follows the law and policy, they're untouchable, so this is a city council issue, not a Police Department issue.

Well played!

FWIW, it was the Chief of Police busting these kids so it came from the top which makes me wonder if this was a poor or middle class neighborhood?
If it was a wealthy neighborhood the parents would be deterrent to the bust

This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Busting on some kids lemonade stand?
I mean WTF?

The lemonade riots are going to be a sour mark on the country

You don't get it, it was EAST Texas
It had nothing to so with the lemonade. Y'all just don't understand how powerful the kettle corn guild is in east Texas.

Thank goodness they didn't try to offer funnel cakes, or this might have had a much more tragic and gruesome ending.

You don't mess around with these guys living.

What kind of race riot would happen if these were black kids?
Do black kids even do Lemonade stands?

If they were black kids the cops would have just shot them.
