TAMU razzing Cal pitcher last night who couldn't find the strike zone...

At one point late in the game, the Cal-Catalina Wine Mixer hurler couldn't find the zone. The entirety of Listeria Recall Park was yelling Ball 5, Ball 6, Ball 7 with each passing ball out of the zone.
Now, before I voice my opinion I'll admit that every team has horrible aspects of its fan base that embarrass it and are not representative of the entirety of said fanbase. I'll also admit that LSU has that same aspect and that even still, we are well known in the left field bleachers to give the bullpen for our opponents a ton of good-natured sh!t.
Sort've seemed a tad bit disrespectful to me by and large. Intimidating? Of course there's an element of that. You'd be crazy not to admit that's impressive on a certain level. Was it due to the charged atmosphere between the two teams playing in some heated, nip and tuck extra inning contests with several incidents during the weekend? I dunno. Feel free to clue me in TAMU types.
I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is tradition in Collie College Station. If so then I'll politely retract my entire line of thinking here.
But did anyone else see the entire stadium razzing the pitcher on the mound last night? What were your thoughts?

You completely miss the point of "Ball 5+"
It's only chanted after a 4-0 count.
Ball 5 = First pitch for next batter
Ball 6 = 1-0
Ball 7 = 2-0
Ball 8 = 3-0
Ball 9 = 2 walks on 8 straight pitches, etc.
The pitcher gets a standing ovation when he finally throws a strike.
I've heard it get as high as "Ball 15" before.

Good. It's meant to be disrespectful and meant to get in his head. And A&M isn't the only fanbase that does this. There was a pitcher from Vermont several years ago when Ole Miss was playing them and he got up to "ball 9"

You act like this is a bad thing? Hell yes we try to get in the pitchers head. Same goes for position players. I swear I've seen guys in the old Aggie alley makes the LF cry before.

You're talking about grown men who blow bubbles to celebrate a run. Nothing surprises me about a team that's never been to a CWS final, much less ever won it.

So you watched this last night and woke up rustled enough to share your thoughts on it?
Prayers sent

Ball 8 would be two walks not 9

You type like you work for the Bleacher Report.

Everybody does that. No big deal. Cal deserved it too.
