Why do Mizzou fans have so much less animosity toward the Big12 than Ags?

Is it because Mizzou actually had success in the conference?

They weren't a little bro and they've had success in the SEC

As a casual observer it would seem Mizzou was happy where they were but glad to get out .... they wanted B1G, they got SEC and now they are checking the horseshoe up their collective asses, along with their blessings.
Mizzourites do not have the time to waste dwelling on that Tejas Big 12 old stuff.
A&M fans were born having to dwell on it.

Mizzou never won a big 12 title. We did

Because Mizzou rarely ever had any success in the Big 12 and were able to win the SEC East the last two seasons while going 1-10 against conference teams with a winning record.
A&M hasn't won anything elite in decades and are the little brother in the state.

they weren't in quite the direct proximity with ut like the ags. i really don't blame the aggies at all for their hatred.

What success?

Not sure to what this post is in reference ... but any "animosity" I hold is predominantly directed at the manner in which we were lambasted, upon our departure.
See Chernobyl.
Texas A&M was looking to make a better situation for ourselves; the BXIIers acted the fools (and still do).
Mizzou simply didn't face the same obstacles we did.
Also, Aggies are surrounded (families, work, neighbors, etc.) by Texas Tech Red Raiders, Baylor Bears, UTex Horns, TCU Frogs, and OU Sooners.
Mizzou likely doesn't face the same daily nonsense from others.
So there's the geography thing.
Those of you fans of teams who share your states with other large, non-SEC schools understand.

The only team we ever really hated was kU and Nebraska to a lesser extent, but they were already gone. Mizzou was a founding member, before there was a big 12. Texas is the only team we blame for fricking up the conference. I'd willingly see missouri in a conference with any of the other past or present members of the big12 - just not kU or TX.

They're orphans, they don't have a daddy.
They just wander from conference to conference looking for acceptance. They're just glad to be here.
Aggies, OTOH, are the bratty little brother who can't wait to get out from his brother's shadow - and gets sent off to military school where he learns to march and like boys.

Baylor tried to sue us to prevent us from leaving.

I fricking hate the Big 12.

Mizzou was a founding member of the original conference now called Big 12. Texas was the rotten apple in the barrel. MU is the only university in state that was part of former conference. Aggies have to live with 4 other in state universities that are members of Big 12.
Even so, Aggies are no happier than Mizzou fans to be rid the Big 12.

Because Missouri fans know deep down that Missouri got wandering eyes and then got shafted by the Big 10, so the SEC move was a great way of saving face (even though the "blame Texas" mantra has permeated Missouri's revisionist history. See below for more on that).
A&M has been anti-Big 12 because they are fools. Fools in that their administration, in order to pull off the move they did, they had to have a boogeyman to rail against, and that boogeyman was Texas.
As you SEC people can see, the easiest way to whip an Aggie into a frenzy is to mention Texas, and their administrators used that to their advantage while they left the conference because of they were tired of getting outmaneuvered by Texas within the Big 12 apparatus. So they had to get away from them or forever suffer in their shadow.
Good for A&M, it was a bold move. But make no mistake, they were sold on the SEC move by stirring the pot against their former Texas brethren, whom they left after about 100 years as conference mates.
Now, they are your problem.

Because Mizzou does't have the little-bro syndrome that aTm has.

We counting the Benjamins too much to be mad.

Could the difference really be the difference between the SWC and the big 8?
I didn't live in Texas then and was also young so I am just asking, but perhaps this is it? SWC, being just schools in Texas and Arkansas, generated a lot more animosity as alums from the entire conference rubbed shoulders in the same cities? Also the chief source of Mizzou hate is Kansas, and they are currently completely without hope of ever being relevant in football. Texas still has the spectre of a return because of all the money they can throw at it.
