I agree with what the other Arkansas guys said. Go where the kids are, especially if it is next door.
Plus, I look at LSU and frequently find myself thinking "Man, if their QB play would just match everything else they have they'd be splitting everything with Alabama."
Maybe Louisiana produces QBs like it produces everything else and LSU picks the wrong ones, so why not take one they'd probably overlook and see?

The thing is you just never know about QBs. It's probably the most unpredictable position to recruit. He could pan out but who knows. Even NFL teams struggle evaluating the position.

This is so true.
LSU passed on Blaine Gautier and Terrance Broadway and they lit it up at ULL. It made me wonder how they would have performed at LSU

Solid pickup. A large faction of LSU fans wanted him. He wasn't likely to pick up an offer from LSU until late in the process however, but that has more to do with the presence of Franks. I personally would have liked him to be at LSU as pocket passer competition for Franks' dual threat game.

The Hudl highlights look very promising. Kelley might be underrated as a 3 star. He throws a good deep ball, can move in the pocket and can run some too.

He was rated highly to start then had a bad camp and everything went down hill.

Raw, like his size, good upside.
Not afraid to run but won't break any long ones.
We'll know in 3 years or so I guess.

Yea, he should have plenty of time to learn and develop. Peavey and Storey will probably have a hack of a QB battle the next few years.

No, he's Mett, without the arm.
he is much, much more mobile than Mett
he moves surprisingly well for a 6'7" white dude
I was really hoping he would be LSU's 2nd QB for this class, still might be if LSU offers

Good pick up for the Hogs. Big kid with a big arm who throws a nice deep ball.

We didn't overlook him. He's third or fourth on the list after Franks and Patterson.

Congrats Hogs. I was hoping we could have had an LSU QB from my home town.

This is the second kid from Louisiana that has committed to Arkansas that LSU fans would have liked to see play at LSU. And there hasn't been much vitriol to speak of regarding it. An idiot or two on the LSURB, but nothing too bad.
But two good pick ups, and potentially more on the way as there is yet again quite a bit of talent in Louisiana, and there will be a lot of really good players that LSU won't offer or can't take.

Good stuff. I would really like to see us land 4-5 guys out of Louisiana each year if we can. They probably won't be top 10-20 guys in the state but that next group of high 3* guys are still going to usually be better athletes than the guys we have traditionally chased elsewhere in the region.

I really liked both Tolliver and Cornelius out of high school, and it looks like they were pretty much instant impact guys. Toliver was closer to an LSU offer than Cornelius was, but both really good players.
Given the state of our DBs, a guy that was next in line for an offer from us should tell you just how good a player he is.
The main thing I don't like about it is that those guys come in with an edge against LSU because they feel slighted about not being offered. And there isn't really a remedy to that with the scholarship limits being what they are.

Ummmmmmmm. I think that's what he meant, chief

Yeah, it's pretty amazing how quickly 1 recruiting class shored up our secondary. And Santos Ramirez, I feel, is going to end up being a great player as well.
Posted on 4/22/15 at 12:00 pm to ocelot4ark
Ramirez was another guy on the cusp of an LSU offer, I had forgot about him.

I guess we'll have to settle for beating you with your scraps

And there goes a rare peaceful conversation on the sec recruiting board
