Article here
I'm not posting in hopes of raising the ire of either fanbase, but we all know it's gonna happen anyways
Enjoy the read if you choose to do so, though

Chavis left for A&M? First I've heard of this.

Good read. Made ME feel good.
The writer's a bit "show-offy" for an article like this, imho.

Why would that article raise the ire of any Aggie fans? The hook on the string looks kind of purplish and goldish to me.

Good read. Laughable but good.
We are going to kick the shite out of AtM/Chavis in the courtroom and on the field this year

I'm not expecting a miracle from Chavis, but I am expecting to win a game or two that we would otherwise lose without a decent Defense. Can Tiger fans at least agree that that is reasonable?

As with any article or opinion, you can draw up as many positives and negatives as you want and of course whatever side is best for the person reading is the side that will be touted.
Common sense tells Chavis that his defense will feel less pressure if the offense scores more points. Sure. But, and I'm sure he knows this I'd assume, it isn't that cut and dry. A quick scoring offense or one setup to score quickly can also put a lot pressure on the defense with 3 and outs, not using a lot of TOP, etc. I get that A&M fans aren't expecting a top 10 defense. I'm just saying. If he is truly getting frustrated by the offensive performance, he'll have his moments to deal with at A&M as well. Overall, its a better situation offensively though obviously.
It will be interesting to see how Chavis uses his scheme at A&M. Myles Garrett is a fantastic talent, but Chavis had some fantastic and talened DEs at LSU that just couldn't get consistent pressure. Was it players or coaching? I guess we'll see. LSU just didn't sack the QB while Chavis was here much at all.
The biggest thing I'd be concerned with as an A&M fan would be press coverage with CBs and relying on them A LOT. Well, until the game is close and then suddenly deciding to play off of the ball and allow 10 yard pass after 10 yard pass. A&M just doesn't have the secondary talent or depth yet to rely on its CBs to cover that extra 1-2 seconds if the QB isn't feeling pressure.
It will be fun to follow.

Are y'all going to post a every new article about Chavis?
My goodness when y'all actually do beat us, your entire fanbase will be so insufferable. You still haven't beaten LSU and more than 60% of A&M's threads are LSU related. Glad we could step into UTs big brother role for you though.

Correct me if i'm wrong, this may be the very first ever somewhat cordial banter between LSU and TAMU fans. Maybe i'm wrong.

its an interesting read. If your an LSU fan i would suggest powering through the A&M dick sucking that appears to happen mid article as he sort of balances it out at the end.

Good read. Like everyone else, I'm worried about our corners.

I don't get why jimmies get rustled over this every time. Chavis was a great Defensive Coordinator, but he wasn't without his flaws.
No doubt he will improve tamu's defense--kinda like LSU's offense logically has to improve this year (I mean, its virtually impossible for it to get worse ). But Chavis also had rosters loaded with NFL talent:
Lamin Barrow, Ego Ferguson, Lavar Edwards, Tharold Simon, Sam Montgomery, Tyrann Mathieu, Bennie Logan, Kevin Minter, Eric Reid, Barkevious Mingo, Ron Brooks, Brandon Taylor, Michael Brockers, Mo Claiborne, Pep Livingson, Drake Nevis, Kelvin Sheppard, Patrick Peterson, Al Woods, Perry Riley, and Chad Jones were all players under Chavis. All were drafted. In this upcoming draft, Jalen Collins (CB) will likely be a first round pick despite only getting a start 7/13 games.
Craig Loston, Freak Johnson, Ryan Baker, Rahim Alem, Danny McCray, Chuck Alexander, Chris Hawkins, and Harry Coleman (Beast) were all picked up as free agents as well.
For comparison's sake, tamu has a total of 9 defensive players total in the NFL overall. This isn't to say Sumlin has not/will not bring the defensive talent level up (he'll have to, since Chief doesn't recruit), but the sheer volume of defensive talent won't be the same at tamu.
He's a great coach and will bring tamu's defensive performance up. But as the article stated, there won't be (and they don't need) elite level defenses up in College Station; marginal improvement will be enough--kinda like LSU QB play only needs to be marginal.
best of luck aggies!

Meh. He gone. We will settle it on the field. Too easy.

I'm not reading this whole thread but I'd like to remind everyone of two things:
#1 Texas A&M hasn't beaten LSU in 20 years.
#2 Aggies are the only ones who brag about beating LSU in the 90's. We owned you before that and we've owned you since.
