Danjel Putifoy was the top player for 2015 and he already signed with Auburn

Is Purifoy going to qualify? I know he had to transfer after his Freshman year due to eligibility issues and then got kicked off his high school team in Alabama before landing at Hargrave.

Paul Jr also made sure that Battle went to Wichita with a one-way ticket, with the understanding that we'll fly him back only with a basketball coach sitting next to him.

Of course Battle hasn't left Wichita. Marshall's gotta pack a suitcase.

...cause Bill ain't allowed back without him.

He's bred a coach in waiting.

What blue blood program Marshall would go to? K isn't retiring. IU want Stevens. UNC will prob. Go after UAB coach. Self is still young. UK? He doesn't fit the profile.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of those guys stick within their own coaching trees. UNC has shown the propensity to stay within the Dean Smith coaching tree. I don't know who has been developed under Coach K, but I'm sure they'll have their options there as well.

The others have shown a willingness to go outside of that obviously, but like you said, Cal and Self are relatively young. Who knows what happens with IU.

That's the thing, Marshall has the ability to cash in now and make blue blood money or he can hold out for the hope that one of those jobs opens up within the next few years. Even if a job opens up at somewhere like Duke or UNC, it isn't a slam dunk that he would get the job. Let's say his goal is still a blue blood program, he can still go to Alabama, be one of the highest paid coaches in the country, and wait for one of those jobs ot open up.

I could see Coach K retiring in a few. Roy too. Boeheim is gone in 3.
Are those programs gonna want a 56-57 yr old coach from Witchita State though?

I would hate to see his career put him at Bama which would result in The Tide dominating my Tigers in yet another sport because I'm just too much of a Nancy to take it anymore tbh

FIFY. You're welcome

...and frankly, if he gets the kind of money at a "blue blood" basketball school, the pressure is own to win a title and get quickly run out...

..at Bama, just getting us competitive again, getting us to The Dance, back to at least Sweet 16's, being competitive in the SEC, giving Kentucky all they can handle, and just bringing excitement back to the program is good enough. Anything beyond that is pure gravy....he can get rich(er) and be a hero at Bama just doing that...

And show that he can win in a P5 conference too. I'd imagine it would be easier to get a blue blood job if he finds a way to knock Cal off his perch more so than beating up on Northern Iowa and Illinois State.

Of course he could always stay at WSU, beat up on Northern Iowa/IlliState, make the tournament every year AND those blue bloods still won't be looking for a 56-57 yr old coach from Witchita State to take over their program.......

Why? Auburn just came off Spring Break - do you have tests already, after one day back in class?

The only problem with that......IF GM takes the bama job, and doesn't succeed, no "blue blood" program would touch him. IF he stays at Wichita State, and keeps up his rate of success, he stands a much better chance of getting a premier job.

FTR I'm not skeered of Marshall. With that said I think he would be a great addition to the conference and along with Pearl elevate the sport in the state of Alabama. I honestly hope you guys land him.

I would love to see the day when both teams in the state are ranked and actually have a MEANINGFUL rivalry game in basketball other than just the 'bragging' rights.
