Fact #1: Google has found GPA's and test scores to be "worthless as a criteria for hiring"; they have teams where 14% of their employees haven't gone to college.

ACT/SAT confirmed overrated

To a certain extent.

In 1999, the founders of Google actually tried to sell it to Excite for just US$1 million. Excite turned them down.
lol

Was Google actually worth anything though? Were the people at Excite getting the visionaries too?

I try not to internet brag because there is no way to really prove...
but I scored a 22 on my ACT and graduated college with a 3.1 and I'll make well into six figures this year in a high level of consulting/sales
I have buddies with 4.0's and MBA's who make half of what I make and hate their jobs

And that was how Skynet began.

I wanted to post the same thing to be honest. I was a high 20 ACTer with a meddling 90s GPA and make six figures. Internet brag, but whatever.
I have a friend that got a 33 on the ACT, graduated college with a 4.0, got his masters and works at Wal Mart now. Not that working at Walmart is demeaning work, but it seems a bit below somebody with those credentials.
Thanks for making me not as big a douche bag for posting it first.

Is he a greeter at Wal Mart? or a logistics engineer? Big difference. The latter being a really good job.

The company I used to work for would hire a bunch of engineers for a project. After the project was completed, they would sort through these new hires and cull those for various reasons (alphas, betas, weird, unable to take/receive direction, arrogant and unwilling to learn) and assign them to me to train them for management in a union shop. I hate that most of them never progressed, and I hate say it...because of cultural issues.
Contrast this with one of the best managers I ever had. Lance had graduated from MIT in mechanical engineering. Frat boy. Privileged family, skated by in school, but graduated. No certifications.
I watched that kid develop.
Right off the bat, he's elbow deep in machine oil, staring for hours and troubleshooting chronic problems. WORKING TO MAKE THE JOBS OF HIS SUBORDINATES EASIER.
Management is coaching, but in order to coach, you better know what your talking about.
Status because of degrees means nothing if you are not always learning.
If you know everything, you will fail.

I don't really want to reply to my own post. Whatever.
I continually see posts on this website with an emphasis on...who, what, where and why.
Enlighten me. Learn me on why.
"Why" is a trait of successful people and at the same time unsuccessful people.
You can use it as a challenge, or you can use it as an excuse.

You know that you could elaborate on this... expand it to 120 pages let's say... and sell the hell out of it.
People will buy a bag of dog shite if the advertisement is good. It sounds like you actually have some knowledge worth buying.
