Maybe Conley becomes a Falcon? He would be a perfect fit at slot and might possibly be available in the mid rounds of the draft. That would not suck.

Not a single Falcon staffer spoke to Conley at the combine, so doesn't appear he's on our radar, unfortunately.

well damn, I was hoping we could get some sweet storm trooper alternate uniforms

As much as I love Roddy, the Falcons definitely need to get rid of him soon. He's getting old and isn't the same player he was 2 years ago. Just not enough production. As far as RBs go...what are we likely to do? Pick up a RB in the draft at some point? Sign a free agent? I know we have Freeman but he doesn't look anywhere close to a starting NFL runningback at this point.

SJax gone, Smith and Quizz are UFA's, and I seriously doubt we re-sign both.
Freeman fits Shannahan's zone-blocking scheme much better than our man-blocking we were doing. He's shifty and can burst through holes as they open. No more lining up 8 yards behind the LoS and waiting for our OL to create a hole. There will be a lot more lateral runs and multiple cuts. Freeman should thrive in this.
Quizz should too, except he's just so damn slow, so I don't know if we re-sign him. Antone Smith is a 1-cut back, but he can get in space ridiculously fast. Although he is recovering from a broken leg, so not sure about him either.
I'd like to pick up CJ Spiller in FA and then draft a big back like TJ Yeldon or Mike Davis around the 4th round. But I'm pretty certain we're going to draft a RB at some point no matter what.

Looks like we just released Justin Blalock now too. So there's another $3.8M added to our cap space. We're at $30M under the cap right now. Holy shite.

As he rightly should, even though I'm slightly salty about the Douglas cut.
Freeman and Smith should be a good RB duo next year, they can get rid of Quizz. They will need to sign someone else but I don't want an injury riddled CJ Spiller or Reggie Bush (even though signing either of those guys would be the epitome of a "Falcons move")

According to over the cap, we are 33.5 million under the cap.
Damn, Quinn is cleaning house.
I wonder who is next.

Pretty sure Quinn took one look at the roster, saw what he had on the lines of scrimmage, said "what the frick is this shite?" and is going from there.

There are a lot of people upset over some of the cuts (mainly the HD one). But I am glad we have coaches who are being proactive and not complacent with the roster.

Count me in this boat. Sucks to lose HD, but these moves as a whole are what was needed. Something had to change.

Sportrac is the best site for cap figures. They have it down to the penny and correct every year.
Falcons cap numbers.
Right now, to be exact, we are $37.9M under the cap. BUT, you need to take away $6.2M for all our draft selections and $2.4M for Matt Bryant's cap hit, which hasn't officially been reported yet, but per PFT that's supposedly what his cap hit is.
So that puts us at $29.3M under.
But I don't think we're done with cuts yet. Plus I think we re-sign guys like Weems, Spoon, Allen, Yates, Lowery, Wilson, and maybe Peters, plus a few of the cheap depth guys like Pascoe, Carimi, Johnson, and/or Godfrey.
I think guys like Babineaux, Hawley, Konz, and Holmes could all still get released. Each of them have much higher cap hits than their dead money if cut. Letting go of Hawley would save us $3M and Babs would save us $2.3M.
Although Hawley is a perfect zone-blocking scheme fit, so there's a good chance he stays if he's back from his injury. He's really athletic and was playing awesome at C before he got hurt. He'd be even better under Shannahan's offense I suspect. So we'll see I guess. The day isn't over, and FA runs for another 2 weeks.

Yeah that's an odd one. Was only $700K salary and one of our better pass rushing prospects. I guess when he spoke out complaining about playing time last year it must have been worse than we knew. Maybe he became a cancer. Don't know why else they cut him.

One year from now the Falcons will be deciding who to take for the first pick in the draft. The dirty birds are dead ducks. RIP

Carlos from 680? Nah, that's not me, although I do often flip between 92.9 and 680, and I know Carlos is good at capology. I'm just a dedicated Falcon fan who does his homework.
