ZERO head coaching experience, came from a mediocre school in Clemson. Had never even been to Mississippi before being hired.
10-22 (4-14)
14-19 (3-15)
7-8 (0-2) Currently riding a 15 game SEC losing streak and has't won a single road SEC game in his 2.5 years as HC. We also currently are last in nearly SEC offensive category and rank 349th out of 351 D1 schools in 3point shooting.

We missed out on now Wichita St. HC Gregg Marshall and landed Darrin Horn.

Horn at least had a couple couple good seasons both at Western Kentucky where he took them to the NCAA tourney and at USCe won 21 games and the SEC east.

well sometimes hiring a brand new head coach isn't always a problem. but states talent pool is not very good right now but after poking at his recruits, i would say give rick 2 more years. One of his recruits is a dandy dozen in basketball from velma jackson who took down #1 recruit malik newmon and calloway powerhouse earlier this season

You hit the nail on the head. Nice guy but man his team looks lost and clueless on the floor and trying to make a 3pt shot is like pulling teeth.

It was a better hire on paper but Barbee could give Ray a run for his money in sucktitude. 49-75(18-50)plus he was a prick.

He's definitely bad. I would assume he's gone after this season.

He needed to be fired. The problem was hiring Ray to replace him.

No offense, but who could State have gotten that was better at the time? Saying that Mississippi State basketball was a dumpster fire after Stansbury's last season is putting it lightly. Nobody wanted to take the job and honestly, he was about as good of a hire as State could have hoped for. Sure he sucks but you couldn't have done better than him considering the state your program was in.
