What about these 2 highly rated recruits, assuming they sign and make in school, Fitzpatrick and Sheffield coming in as true freshman.
Seems like the safety spot is wide open, a lot of young inexperienced talent with very few upper class guys.
Which guys are the higher rated guys? I know stars aren't everything but it will give me an idea of perceived talent.
Thanks and sorry I can't add much substance as I don't follow recruiting ad closely as a lot of you guys, which means that I don't know which up and coming guys I should really be excited about.

I'm excited to see Hootie get a shot. He has ideal safety size but he was a lock down corner in high school.

Is Fitzpatrick going to actually dick with his commitment? I remember reading that he might flip to FSU.
I just can't believe we are in this situation with Saban and Smart coaching the secondary. I figured that would always be our strong spot.

What situation? Having to play young talent because guys leave early? Happens every year.

Hootie Jones and Geno Smith.
This is who I'd also guess at the moment...

Where is Mo Smith playing?
Thought I read somewhere that he mentioned playing Safety next year...but I could be wrong...

I think its very foolish to expect any of the freshman to start until very late in the season at the earliest. Barron didn't start, Collins didn't start, and HCD didn't start either.
Somebody convince me that our new crop is better than any of those 3.

I don't care who else plays, I want Hootie Jones playing

Eddie's frame and leaping ability with Geno's coverage skills would allow us to run a ridiculous amount of stunts with our front seven, it's scary.

What I meant by "frame" was his height and long arms, which will make him a hell of deep third safety. As stated, Eddie isn't afraid to put a lick on someone and already knows the defense, which is another positive in my eyes for a move to safety. But regardless, I just hope we put it together this year.

true, but those guys were all really good players and they weren't ready for a role on the starting defense as freshmen. It wasn't because they weren't great athletes. Freshmen struggle in this defense. IT's gonna take some time for the young guys to learn it. In the meantime we will need guys like Geno, Mo, and Jabriel to step up and carry the load.
