So.....
My 14 yr old is playing fall baseball. In his practice this week, he dives for a ball in the OF and hurts his arm. Being the dad I am, I tell him to rub some dirt on it and if it still hurts put some ice on it and take some Alleve.
His mom feels bad for him the next morning and takes him to the doc in the box for X-rays. Yep, broken arm. Felt pretty bad about it.
Anyone else have a parenting misstep as bad? A buddy of mine waited 4 days to take his 5 yr old in with a broken leg. Said he still feels awful to this day.....

Eh, its a Dads job to say suck it up and a Moms job to worry. It was only one night.

Was there with my ankle when I was 6 and fell out of a tree. Folks waited until next day to take me to the hospital. It was broken. I never held it against them. Thought it made me tougher.

That's how it should be. The dad teaches the son to man up, and the mom nurture - yin and yang so to speak.

i've had so many failures as a parent that I can't post them in fear of CPS lurking.
probably my better one was my adventerous child decided to climb out on a tree at a Halloween party. he started crying and i took pictures instead of getting him down.
that's probably a 3 on my scale, having achieved a 10 in a few scenarios

To be fair a wrist fracture isn't a big deal anyway. Chances are you could have never taken him and he would be fine.

I think every parent does this. Kids are whiners and exaggerate shite constantly.
I know one time I had an allergic reaction to something and my parents did not believe me until I started having problems breathing.

My parents waited a week and a half to get me a Z-Pack for strep throat. I am still mad about it.

I plan on self-medicating like I do every Thursday: grill, beer, and college football.

Eh don't worry about it. If my kid ever breaks a bone after 5 pm, we are splinting it and going for x rays the next morning. No point in wasting all night in the ER for something that immediate treatment doesn't even help.

I can probably make you feel a lot better with my story.
Was in bed one morning when my daughter (1 year old at the time) came into the room crying. She did this a lot so I didn't even budge. After about 5 mins, my wife walked in and said "Where is all this blood coming from?"
My daughter has gotten her finger hung in the bedroom door and almost cut it completely off. Had to rush her to the ER and have it sewed back together.
I feel like a POS all over again just for remembering that morning.

My oldest brother was a pole vaulter in high school. We lived out in the country and rigged up a redneck pole vaulting pit (not really a good idea, probably). Dug a hole, put a bunch of foam in it and rigged up some standards.
Anyway, he hurts his elbow pole vaulting the day before a meet at the house. My dad tells him to suck it up and go about his business. The next day for the meet, the coach sees his arm and immediately sends him to the doctor for X-rays. Fractured elbow.
My dad did not feel like an a-hole. He thought it was hilarious, and we all do until this day as well.
There was also the time middle brother fractured his arm in the middle of winter while mudding on his three wheeler. He was so covered in mud that they couldn't take him to the hospital, so my dad sprays him down with a water hose (once again, in near freezing temps) before taking him into the hospital.
