Exactly. These stupid homers up here look for any excuse they can find to explain away the SEC's success - academics, sanctions, nonconference opponents, number of nonconference games out of state in October...
It's pathetic.

To be clear the link showed the SEC has played more Power 5 teams in the last decade than any other conference.

The SEC OOC is always going to be looked down upon, because there aren't SEC teams on there.

There are cupcakes with razorblades in them. The Big 12 is learning the hard way to not schedule North Dakota State. The MAC annually collects its share of scalps from the Big 10. The PAC 12 has learned to worry about the Boises of the world. The ACC... well ok... that doesn't work, I mean William and Mary should be beating a good chunk of those teams.
Even the SEC has learned that scheduling the wrong Sun Belt team at the wrong time of the year can bite you.

Well the problem in college football is that they don't have a preseason like the NFL does. You have to start your football season "cold turkey" and hope you can have everything in place rather quickly.
Well, that doesn't bode well if your first opponent is a legit contender from a Power 5 conference b/c you will get embarrassed on national television. Not from a lack of talent in some cases, but the fact that execution and cohesiveness takes practice which grows with the experience of playing an actual "game" (hell, at least one)!!!
So, playing these cupcake teams helps to "iron out the kinks" in a way before real competition...!!! On the flip side, these smaller schools get to tune-up as well b/c the teams they play are no where close to the SEC. Playing better competition makes you better, which works for these smaller aka "cupcake" teams.
I mean, could you imagine having to go right into the meat of the SEC gauntlet to start the season with no tune-up game???
REALLY?

Well, 14 teams times 4 OOC games = 56 OOC games..
I'd say we have to schedule our fair share of cupcakes. There just aren't enough open dates, scheduling opportunities, mutual contract opportunities, etc. for all 14 teams to be able all schedule TWO "Top 5 Conference" opponents, much less one.....

I'm not clicking the link. IMO if the other conferences were better, then, the OOC teams they play would feel like cupcakes also. They need to up their game.

The SECW is a death march and the SECE is no walk in the park with the Gators and the Vols seeming to be coming back to form.
Hell, the SEC's two most recent additions, Mizzou and A&M are stronger than rent.
