Don't think Stewart had any intent to hit the guy, maybe sling a little dirt on him or something.

So Tony Stewart finally killed someone. Accident or not, he will be condemned. He's the most hated driver in racing. Definitely the biggest head case behind the wheel. He should retire before someone takes him out.

His well documented anger issues won't help, if they do charge him with something.

Doesn't look intentional; however unlike all the other drivers he didn't try to be careful or give him space at all. Instead he gunned it.

Dude was stupid for walking out in traffic.

I've always liked him, because he was a throw back to the older drivers, with his outspokenness.

What happened is tragic and unfortunate. Open wheel dirt racing will have accidents when tires hit. Looks like he slid up into him hitting tire to tire, being on the inside he saved his car. Ward should never have left his vehicle, especially not moving down the track. The car before Stewart looked like it could have almost hit him as well. As far as the revving as he went by, from the angle, to me... it was hard to tell if he was trying to scare him, avoid him or kick dirt on him. I would be certain he didn't intend to hit him or kill him though.

Hopefully, this will be a lesson to other drivers not to take on moving race cars.

He withdrew from today's race. Apparently killing somebody effects even that angry man.

Apparently he said last night he planned to race today. Incomprehensible to me.
I imagine Nascar told him to sit and see what happens next.

His statement today regarding the incident:

“There aren’t words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr. It’s a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I’ve decided not to participate in today’s race at Watkins Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Eh, I can understand him wanting to get back into a car if for no other reason to prove that he's able to get back into a car after an incident like that.

Stewart may be an asswipe on a regular basis, but there's a big jump from accusing a guy of being a shite human being to a murderer. I've only ever rode in a street stock (not the same thing) so I can't speak for what it's like trying to avoid hitting a guy running across the track, in a not-so-well lit track, in a stock car. It's a sad incident all around. Somebody lost a son and someone is going to have to live with hitting him with his car and killing him. Maybe more depending on what an investigation finds.

The dude jumped out at TS a couple of seconds before Stewart passed by. The other guys weren't close to hitting him because he wasn't trying to get in their face.

TS is a dick, and I am sad for the guy's family. but he got out in front of cars going in excess of 70 MPH to talk mess. Then jumped out at one in particular. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

Exactly. I don't know how people don't get this.

Off-topic and grossly insensitive and inappropriate, but at last we now know the root source of the lose/loose idiocy.

We will all loose someone in our time. When a loss is sudden and unexpected, the pain & sadness is suffocating. Prayers for the Ward family.
